Jason McCann: Bad Habit

JASONS POV

After three years of living in hell, I finally managed to escape. It wasn't easy, but I did it.

My legs tried to run as fast as the could through the woods that surrounded the prison. The orange jumpsuit wasn't helping at all. Soon, I found a nearby highway.

I stood there for what must have been an hour until a truck was coming down the road. I held out my thumb, feeling stupid for what I must look like.

An old man with a beard pulled the truck onto the side of the road. He had a farmers tan, and wrinkles starting to pull at his skin. The back of the truck was loaded down with watermelons.

The man rolled down the window and looked at me suspiciously. "Are you suppose to be out here?"

"Can you give me a ride? Please? I-I think I'm lost." I tried to sound as innocent as I possibly could.

The man shrugged and unlocked the door. I jumped inside, but before he could move the truck, I placed my hand on the back of his head and smashed it against the steering wheel.

I couldn't tell if the man was dead or not, but I opened his door and pushed his limp body out of the truck. I slid over with a smirk on my face and drove away.

It wasn't long until I found Jordan's house. She was the first person I wanted to see. Coming to visit once a month wasn't enough for me.

I pulled the truck into her driveway, only to see my brother walking out of the front door. I wondered what he was doing there, but I got out anyway.

"Jason? What the hell?" Alex looked at me with surprise, but not a good surprise.

"Is Jordan home?" I asked as I tried to look through her house Windows.

Before I knew it, Alex came running at me at full speed. He tackled me to the ground with his hands on the collar of my jumpsuit.

"Get out here! If the police see you here, Jordan could get into trouble as well!" He yelled into my face.

I pushed him off of me. "What are you doing here anyway?"

"Jason?" A familiar voice came from behind me.

I turned around to see the most beautiful girl in the world. She looked so much different, but so good at the same time. Her hair was in a braid that laid against her shoulder as her big brown eyes watched me.

"Jordan." I got up off of the ground and ran to her.

I was just about to hug her, to wrap her in my arms, but she back away.

"You can't be here." She said.

I could tell it hurt her to say that, but she was right. I shouldn't be here if police are out searching for me.

"I'm sorry." I awkwardly looked at her.

Alex held open the door to the farmers truck I had just stolen, indicating that I need to leave. I didn't say anything else to either of them. All I did was get into the truck and drive away.

I had no idea where I was going, I just knew I had to get away.
