Chapter Twenty three

“Hey man, sup”

“Coach still inside bro?” Shawn asks

“Yes, we are waiting for him to come out to get this party started” Tyler replies

“You sure, I am a pro man. I won the field”

“We shall see about that”

Franca and her friends were going to get some food seeing as it was already midday. Sarah and Annie were talking about the latest happenings in their previous class. Their class had gone into an uproar when Mr. Jenkins their math teacher had given golden boy Jasper a detention.

“Like that was so unnecessary, like Jasper was so super cool, how uncool of Mr. Jenkins to do that. Like totally” Annie said mimicking Jessica’s response.

“You are so funny Annie, Sarah beware you have competition”

“Nah, I am still mega funny!”

Oblivious that they were being started at, the girls chatted away. Tyler’s attention had all the while been drawn to Franca. She looks so beautiful, I really blew my chance! Shawn noticed the sudden quiet atmosphere, glancing at Tyler’s gaze, he saw what had captivated him.

“Hey man, what you looking at her for. She is bad news man”

“I blew my chance with her. We were going to get married and I messed it all up. I wish I could turn back the time”

“Did you not hear what I just said? She is bad news”

“How so?”

“She is not worth it”

Tyler punched Shawn on his nose. Ethan came into the scene trying to calm his friend, pulling him way from Shawn.

“How dare you!”

“Tyler let him go man” Ethan says

“Come to think of it, you are not new, are you? I recognize your face somewhere but I can’t seem to place it”

“What you on about man, I just came here a few days ago like you said”

“Guys! We do not need this in the team. We are supposed to be team players”

“You are right Ethan, sorry Tyler. I was wrong to say what I said”

“Cool, Tyler get your hand sorted, you are lucky coach did not see this happen”

“We cool Tyler”

“Yeah man, we cool”

Eight months later, Shawn and Tyler became best of friends. Tyler was still hurting over his breakup with Franca. Shawn was still set on revenge. Coincidentally, the school was holding a party. Shawn decided to hatch his plan on the day of the party seeing that he now had Tyler’s trust.

Franca and her friends were all dancing together when she was called aside by Shawn. I wonder what he is up to Franca reasoned. Shawn had told a friend to act flirty with her when he introduces them. He rightfully knew Tyler was watching like a hawk.

“I wanted to apologize for the way I treated you. Can we be friends?”

Franca although guarded admired Shawn’s apology.

“Yes, of course”

“Great, oh, here is a friend of mine I would like to introduce you to”

Shawn’s friend was a flirt and had a funny side to him. His friend charmed his way into her smile. Franca giggled and laughed at what he said making Tyler angry.

Shawn faced the direction of Tyler, catching his glance as he quickly pretended he was not staring at Franca some few seconds ago. Pleased with himself, he made his way towards Tyler.

“Hey Tyler, forget about her man. Look at her flirting with him. Let her go” Tyler looked at Franca and made his resolve.

“You know what, I just might do that”

“Great choice man” Shawn replied going to talk to other people at the party. Jessica had seen how he treated Franca and they had both struck a deal on how to make Tyler forget about her. Seeing as Tyler was very jealous of male admiration to Franca, they had both decided to use jealousy to make him finally let her go. Shawn winked at Jessica to let her know the deed was done. Reapplying her makeup, Jessica walked towards Tyler

“Hey Tyler, how have you been”

“None of your business”

“Oh, don’t be like that” “Leave me alone Jessica. How can you just forget about what we shared? We are meant to be together Tyler. Can’t you see it?” Jessica says crying clutching her heart.

“We are perfect for each other Tyler” Jessica softens her voice knowing fully well that Tyler hated to see women cry. It was his weakness and Jessica was using it against him.

“Come here” Tyler says hugging her. Jessica smirks giving Shawn the thumbs up for a job well done.

“Forget about her Tyler, let us concentrate on us. I know you care about me” Jessica says sniffing. Tyler could see the happiness in Franca’s eyes whilst he was holding her. I guess it is time I move on, she clearly is over me.

“I guess we could work on us” Tyler says sighing with resignation.
