After about an hour of mindless talking, they heard the loud fwoomp of the front door closing. They rushed down the stairs, almost tripping over one another.
"Cal has offered to cook for all three of us," Ravi said, slightly out of breath.
"Really? You'd do that for us?" Alex asked, a bit too excited. "Thank you! I'd love it if you cooked for us. There are some dishes that we brought from home in the cabinets." She set the groceries on the table
After the trio ate dinner, they began to chat about themselves. This is good, Calypso thought. I'm getting to know the people I'll be living with for the next year. Their conversation was interrupted by a sharp knock on the door.
"I'll get it," Calypso offered. As she swung the door open cautiously, she was given a wonderful surprise.
"Dad!" she exclaimed, running into the man's arms.
"Hey, Lambkin," her father said. "How's it going?"
"Great. The room is fine, Ravi and Alex are even better," she said into his shoulder. "Here, come in. We've just finished dinner," Cal offered. Ravi and Alex both stood and shook hands with Calypso's father. They exchanged names and how do you do's.
"I'm afraid I'll have to leave you now," Mr. Masterson said. "I came here to check on Cal and bring her car back home,".
"Okay, but you have to visit me soon," Calypso ordered as she gave him one last hug.
"I promise, Lambkin," he said, smiling. I have to meet your aunt for ribs and divorced people talk. I will be back soon though."
