Mrs. Lansing picked me up at the airport. It was really awkward for the first 20 minutes or so.
"So. . ." Mrs. Lansing said.
"So." I repeated, wondering where she was going with this.
She replied, "So, is there anything you'd like to know, we only have another half-hour or so until we get there."
I pondered her question until coming up with a question of my own. "How many kids do you have?"
To my surprise, she said, "Oh, I have nine boys." like it was most normal thing in the world.
I tried to keep the amount of shockedness I was feeling to myself and was relieved when she didn't notice. Or didn't say anything at least.
"You should tell me a bit about them. Kind of a heads-up." I said, wanting to know as much as possible about the people I would be spending the next two years with.
She described them. I took notes:
Austin- 18, colledge freshman, quiet, smart, plays soccer. Can be sarcastic.
Zach- 17, high school senior, friendly, smart. Quarterback of the football team.
Cole- 16, high school junior, plays basketball. Flirts. . .a lot(sounds like a bit of a player to me).
Brad- 15, high school sophmore, trouble maker, smart, only pulls pranks when he's around his twin. Can be nice and sweet.
Landon- 15, high school sophmore, Brad's twin. Also a trouble maker, but is an evil genius.
Seth- 13, 8th grader, nice, shy. Plays baseball.
Cody- 10, 5th grader, very hyper. Do not underestimate him because of his cuteness.
Noah- 7, 3rd grader, gets into everything. Takes after Landon. Great.
Jake- 6, 1st grader. Adorable.
After that we were almost at the house, so I asked her about school.
"You start school next week. We already have everything sorted out, so you don't have to worry about anything. You and I are going clothes shopping tomorrow." She said with a huge smile on her face.
I tried to smile back and hoped it didn't look to fake. I am not into shopping, but without another girl in the hours, I guess it's been a while since she's gone without protest. I would try to act as enthusiastic as possible.
* * * * *
After another five minutes, we arrived at the house. I was shocked at the size of the house at first, but then I couldn't stop staring at the boys in the front yard. They were drool-worthy.
They looked like they were waiting for something and it had finally arrived. Then I realized they were probably waiting to introduce themselves.
"We're here," Mrs. Lansing said when we pulled into the drive way. "I guess I'll make the introductions and they can help you with your bags."
After sitting there for a moment, I awkwardly got out of the car.
"Well, this is Austin." Mrs. Lansing started, gesturing to a boy with black hair and amazing blue eyes. He waved shyly and I smiled back.
"I've got it from here, Mom." The boy next to Austin said while stepping forward. He was about the same height as his brother, but had dark, not quite black, hair that was longer. "I'm Zach." He said flashing a nice and welcoming smile. "This is Cole," he said pointing to the boy next to him. Cole smiled, waved, and, while he was waving, somehow managed to flex his muscles which showed well under his tight fitting t-shirt. "Next are Brad and Landon who I would recommend staying away from." He said this while pointing at two boys that I would not have picked as twins. Brad had longer dark hair while Landon had short blonde hair.
"We're not that bad." Landon said while flashing a devious smile that sent a small shiver up my spine.
"Not at all." Brad added.
I just smiled and waved awkwardly.
"After the twins, we have Seth, Cody, Noah, and little Jake at the end." While pointing to four boys.
"I'm not little!" Jake complained.
"You're five." Zack retorted.
Jake let out a short sigh. "So. . ." he whisper-pouted while looking at the ground.
"And on that note, boys, help Logan take her bags to her room." A man who was behind the boys, who I'm assuming was Mr. Lansing, ordered.
I watched as a few of the older boys got my few bags from the back while I got my backpack out of the front seat.
Mrs. Lansing was suddenly next to me. I had almost forgotten she was there. "Come on, Logan. I'll show you your new room."
"Thanks." I said wanting to get away from the boys.
She led me into the house, through what I assumed was the living room, up the stairs to a hallway, and to the 3rd door on the right.
"Close your eyes." She commanded and I did. I heard her open the door and she led me in a few steps. "You can open your eyes now." She stated.
Again, I did as she asked and when I did, I gasped in surprise.
"I heard you liked blue." She said waiting for me to tell her what I thought.
"It's perfect." I said. "Thank you so much." She then hugged me and I hugged her back tightly. She reminded me of my mom.
"Well, I'm going to let you get settled here, dinners in an hour or so." Then she left me in my new room.
I just stood there for a minute, not knowing what to do first, until someone cleared their throat behind me. I turned around and saw Austin standing in the door frame.
"So, do you like your new room?" He asked. I nodded. "Good." He smiled, "Well, I just wanted to stop by to welcome you properly. If you ever need anything, I'm right across the hall."
"Okay, thanks." I said. He smiled again and left me to be alone and to get settled into my room.
I laid down on the bed and thought to myself, this might be fun.
A/N- So what do you think of the brothers? Does anyone have a favorite yet?
(And the song doesn't have anything to do with the story, I just like it)
