I arrive in town as fast as I could. Nothing was going to stop me from getting to Matthew. Absolutely nothing. It was snowing out and that was the one reason I wasn't going 100 miles an hour. I couldn't die trying to help my friend who wants to die.
I pull onto his street when I see people at his house. It was Dylan and his girlfriend. They were walking out of Matthew's house, and with them was Matthew. I quickly park on the side of the road and get out. They were about to get in the car to go somewhere.
"Matthew!" I shout. He looks up and he just looks awful. His skin was pale and he looked so frail. His eyes had bags under them from lack of sleep and they were puffy from crying.
"Rylyn?" He asks. I walk towards them and he keeps looking at me. When he realizes it's me he quickly runs over to me. When he reaches me he picks me up. I wrap my arms around his neck and he wraps his arms around my waist holding me tight against him. "Oh God I've missed you so much." He says into my shoulder.
"I've missed you so much more." I say and he sets me down.
"Why did you come out here?" He asks me.
"I needed to see you. I just had to." I say to him as my eyes start to water from seeing him after all this time. Seeing him was one of the best things that has happened to me in a long time, besides getting into the dance school.
"Hey don't cry." He says and wipes the tears falling below my eyes.
"Sorry, I'm just so happy to see you." I say to him.
"I'm more than happy to see you." He says and grabs me and pulls me in for another hug. The warmth from his body heated me up as I was standing outside in my shorts and a sweatshirt. "We were about to go to dinner. Do you want to join us?" He asks me.
"Yes please." I say and we walk back to Dylan's truck. The both of us get in his back seat and sit there with our fingers still intertwined. Dylan starts up his truck and drives us to the restaurant.
We went to the place Dylan and his girlfriend were gonna go to. It was a cute little hamburger joint that many people didn't seem to know about. We choose a booth in the back of the restaurant to sit at. I sit across from Dylan and next to Matthew.
"I'm glad you're okay man." Dylan says to Matthew after we order our food.
"Me too. I'm glad you guys came. It's not like I was going to hurt myself, but I was definitely thinking about it." He says to us.
"I'm glad you didn't." I say and lay my head on his shoulder. If anything was to ever hurt Matthew and make it fatal I would be so upset. He means the world to me. He was my rock and I was his. We made life bearable for each other.
"I wanna go see Bernie tonight." Matthew says to me as Dylan was driving us back to Matthew's house.
"Okay. Do you want me to come with?" I ask him. He nods.
"I would." He says and squeezes my hand a little bit. I can tell that he's a bit nervous to go and see his dog that he neglected. Heck I would be too if I just forgot about my dog. Bernie meant everything to Matthew.
"Where is he at currently?" I ask him while we switch into his truck.
"He's at an animal hospital. I wanted to make sure he got the best treatment." Matthew explains while he starts his truck and we take off to the hospital.
It was a silent ride until we finally arrived at the animal hospital. Right next to it was the humane shelter which was a very colorful building. On the outside of it there were large fences that had dogs running on the inside of them.
