Talking to Matthew last night was something I really enjoyed. He was really funny and just made me feel normal. When I go back to school today I know that I'm going to get some looks. Probably not any good ones. I didn't show up at school yesterday and to just come back to school with a ton of new and expensive things probably wasn't going to help.
It was cold out this morning so I decide to wear a sweater. The sweater was grey and was short in the front while it was long in the back. A high low sweater is what I think the tag said. I pulled on a pair of leggings. I've never worn leggings before so the feeling was different. They were tight, yet loose. I felt comfortable in them. Next I move onto doing my hair. I brush it and let my natural curls spill over my shoulders. I spray myself with some perfume and then go brush my teeth. I know a lot of girls my age wear makeup but I've never worn it. I like people seeing my face how it is naturally. The shoes I slip on are a pair of little boots. They're black and have a fake animal fur in them. They were so warm which I loved.
"Hey mom." I say as I walk down the stairs to her.
"Good morning sweetheart." She says as I she her straightening out her clothes. She was wearing a nice skirt with a white blouse. She also wore a royal blue jacket which made the outfit pop.
"You never told me. What exactly is your new job?" I ask her.
"A Magazine reporter. One of the managers of the magazine liked my presence and liked my spunk." She tells me. I smile. My mom did have that. She had awesome energy and just put people in a better mood. "Do you have everything?" She asks me. I nod making sure. I had my phone, school things, backpack, clothes for dance, and money for lunch. "Do you have your keys?" She asks me. I look at her in confusion. She tosses me something and I catch it. It was a set of keys. "There are your car keys." She says to me. I look down at them then back up at her. I make my way outside and press the lock button to hear a car beep. I look up and see an awesome new truck. I have no idea what kind it was because I don't know anything about them. All I know is that it looked really expensive.
"Thank you so much mom." I say and give her a hug.
"Hey don't worry about it. You're 17 and you deserve a nice truck." I smile and go inside to grab my things.
"I gotta go. Carter is probably worried." I say and get in my truck.
I arrive at school and I already get looks as soon as I get out. People either think I stole this, or they're just in shock. My backpack was slung over my shoulders as I walk into school. Everyone's eyes were on me. There was something different about these stares. They didn't have sympathy, or mock, or anything mean. Some had astonishment, jealousy, confusion. It felt nice to be look at with some good perspectives. When I reach my locker I see Carter walk up to his locker which was right next to mine.
"Hey, were you sick yesterday?" He asks me.
"No my mom and I went shopping." I tell him and he nods. It takes him a few seconds to process that I actually spoke to him.
"Oh my god Rylyn! You're...you're speaking!" He says happily. I smile and he hugs me. "That's amazing. And you look good." He says smiling.
"Thanks. Oh and guess what."
"What?"
"My mom bought a house." I say excitedly. He look at me and his eyes are full of joy.
"I'm so happy for you. I'm glad your mom is making more money." He says.
"Actually all of this came from the lottery. She finally won. She got me everything I needed. She got me more then what I needed." I tell him. He smiles. He knows that my mom tries for the million one every time, and he knows that my mom would first buy a house. "Oh put your number in my phone." I tell him. I hand it to him and he puts it in. "Really?" I ask him
