"Bullet, wake up" I heard someone say, shaking me lightly. I rolled over and groaned, trying to get them away. "Come on Bullet get up." They said again. I was to tired to tell who it was. Sitting up, I saw Poison and Cellophane looking at me worriedly. "What?" I groaned. "You were.. screaming.." Cellophane said, touching my forehead. "I was?" I said as I moved my head away from her hand. "Yeah, pretty loud to." Poison said. I rubbed my eyes and looked at the clock on the side table. It read 6:30 AM. "Oh.. We should go soon. I wanna get some of my dad's old posters out of the house to put on the walls." I got up and opened one of the drawers to my dresser, pulled out some pants, and threw them on my bed. Poison and Cellophane didn't care about me changing in front of them, neither did I. It's not like I had anything to hide, we're all humans. Plus, in times like these, no one really has time to be emotionally or sexually attracted to anyone. Maybe the Killjoys ot in zone 6 who think they're so safe, but not here. I took off my shirt and put on the shirt that I had set on the bed. It was just a normal black V-neck. Then I pulled on my blue skinny jeans and my patched up jacket. I zipped the jacket half way and then slipped on my boots. I grabbed my zap and my mask then left the room. When I got to the bathroom, I brushed my hair and then put on my mask. I slipped the zap in my boot, like always, then left the bathroom. In the living room, I picked up my bag and walked out the door. Moments later, Poison came out and got in the car. "Lets go zone rat." He said smiling at me. I liked how he called me zone rat. I smiled and got in the passenger seat of the car. Kobra came out and motioned for Poison to roll down his window. "Ghoul and Star are coming with you today, Missile's sick so I'm gonna call Show Pony and see if Dr. Death Defying has anything for her." He said. "Alright, be safe." Poison said as he rolled his window up. Kobra gave him a thumbs up then we pulled out of the drive way and hit the getaway mile. He turned on the radio and turned it up almost all the way. I smiled and put my hands out the sun roof. I felt the heat from the sun and thewind on my fingers and through my gloves. Poison smiled and pointed at a sign for the lake. I took my hands out and bit my lip.
He pulled up the rocky thin drive way and parked in a clear space of dirt. I got out and ran up the rest of the rocky drive way and went up the two wooden green steps. I pulled open the heavy red screen door and let it slam behind me. I went through the kitchen and in to my grandpa's bed room. I pulled three big boxes out from under the bed. He always kept empty boxes under the bed. I opened the bathroom door and went in with one box, filling it with supplies. Band aids, meds, disinfectant, all that stuff. I grabbed shampoo and conditioner and a few bars of soap. Then I god bug spray and sun screen. After leaving the bathroom, I went to the bunk room and grabbed sheets and pillows, stuffing them in the box. When the box was full, I closed it up and ran back to get another. Poison came in and grabbed the other box. "What can I get?" He asked. "Uhh.. that jar of crystals." I pointed at the big jar in the corner of the living room by the table. Looking at that jar brought back a memory.
*Flashback to when I was 11*
"Grandpa, why do the roads have crystals on the side?" I asked my grandpa, tugging his shirt and jumping up and down. He patted my head and smiled down at me. "Well Crystal, when they used to make the old pavement, sometimes crystals got caught in the rock they used and when they would put the rocks down, crystals would get all over the place. Now, lets go for a diamond walk." He said patting my back. I ran out the door to the driveway where my dad was just finishing smoking a cigarette. "Ready to go?" He asked. I nodded and took his hand. We walked up the drive way to where the road starts and waited for my grandpa. "Hurry up!" I called down the way. I saw him walking out the door and over to us. I smiled and jumped up and down waiting for him to meet up. He finally got to us and we started to walk. Every time I saw something shiny, I stopped to see what it was. They crystals were usually on the sides of the road. I always brought a cup with me to put them in to. I picked up every shiny object I saw and put it in the cup. "Look daddy! Look what I got!" I yelled, picking up a huge crystal and putting it in the cup. "Wow kiddo, nice one!" He cheered, patting my back. We reached the usual turning point, the tall sun flowers that grew in a swampy field of lily pads and other plants. We turned around and headed back home, watching the lake and how pretty it was as we passed the big houses around us.
