Saturday Morning

Chapter 12: Birthdays

Saturday morning I wake up to an extremely loud tv playing from downstairs. I check my phone the time was 9:25. I rolled over on my back to a Robin less bed. I miss Robin next to me the bed feels so empty and cold now. I check my phone notifications and by the time I get out if bed its 9:43.

I put my slippers on and walked down the hall to see Ash and find that she's still sleeping so I decide to let her sleep and take the baby monitor with me. When I get to the living room Lilly, Roland and Henry are all watching cartoons and probably wouldn't have noticed I  was there unless I said something.

"Good morning children" I say playfully. Their heads all swooped almost in synchronization and Lilly runs up to me saying good morning along with Henry and Roland. We all head to the kitchen and I start getting stuff out to start breakfast.

"Hey mom guess what's this weekend!" Henry asks excitedly.

I think about what's going on this weekend and then I got it. "OHHH! It's Roland's birthday!!!" I yell out loud looking at Roland his fave turning red because he's always been the shy type. "You going to be 10! Wow 10 already. Where does time go?" I say pulling Roland into a hug. The baby monitor went off as Ash was heard crying. "I'll go get her mom" says Henry as he walks towards the stairs. "Okay just be careful" I reply back.

"So Roland what do you want to do for your 10th birthday?"  I ask cracking and egg open.

"I don't know.....umm" Roland being very hesitant says "I kind of don't want to have one. If that's okay?"

I was very shocked at his response. "That's totally fine if you don't have one but may I ask why?"

"It's just with out my dad it wouldn't feel like a birthday" he says with his head down.

"Ohh Roland," I say going over there to give him another hug "It'll be okay and I understand if you don't want to have one"

I finish preparing breakfast and Henry comes down with Ash. "Lilly! Come eat!" I yell from down stairs.
"Coming!" her little voice yelled back.

We all get situated and then I get the best idea. "Roland!" I say super exited "what if we had a mini birthday party in Robin's hospital room. We can invite the Charming's and the rest of our family there too! If that's okay with you?"

Roland looks up from his pancakes with bright eyes. "Ya! I would like that."

"Okay great it's a plan! I'll call the hospital and ask if we can do it!" I say very excitedly happy that Roland is happy too.
