Lucian’s P.O.V.
Fuck. Like rogues weren’t a big enough problem, now I even have traitors in my coven that were after my mate.
Things just keep getting better and better.
I sighed and rubbed my temples. Great, I’m going to have a headache so early in the day.
The report in front of me on the table, freezing me to the core.
A number of rogues attacked a small coven just outside Chicago. I know, it was far from here, but it still affected every coven there is. It meant that the rogues are becoming more bold than ever and attacking covens so that opened a possibility that even some of the bigger covens might get attacked.
And let me tell you, that was bad.
Not because it could cause a war between rogues and covens, no, there already is some sort of war…
This, this can lead to the rogues coming here and possibly attacking the local wolf pack as well, meaning my mate.
And let me tell you, the Alpha would not be a happy camper if that happened.
Plus, our-the vampire’s- head elder wouldn’t be so happy about that either.
And yes, we vampires have a council or elders or whatever the hell you want to call it.
Elders are coven leaders or coven Kings. When you take over a coven or form one, no matter how small, you get a seat at the council. Which, to be honest, doesn’t mean much.
The council exists only for the purpose of communication of vampires… and making some really, really, really, reeeeaaaallllyyy serious decisions.
You can basically do whatever you want, wage war on whoever you want, kill whoever you want, just as long as it doesn’t piss of the head elder.
Black always was and still is a scary fucker… yeah, he’s the head elder.
Though, he doesn’t use that position very much. Only to ensure basic order and shit, so he doesn’t get involved in too many situations, but if the rogues attacked this place where a wolf pack is, shit could hit the fan real fast and Black would become involved and then there would be bay-bay to your asshole Lucian.
“If you don’t stop staring at that file it’s going to catch on fire.” The melodic voice and beautiful scent made me snap out of my thoughts and smile warmly at the beautiful figure in front of me.
“Hello, my beautiful. Take a seat.” Dima smiled back at me and I could see the cutest little blush form on his cheeks as he sat down, “What’re you doing here? Isn’t this a bit early for you to be up?” I asked with a smirk.
He laughed then shrugged. “I don’t know. I couldn’t sleep.” he said with a sigh.
“You missed me holding you, Dima?” I asked and leaned forward, taking one of his hands in mine.
“Yes, actually… the bed felt empty… cold… distant…” he looked me in the eyes and I could see he was tired, “For the first time in my life, it scared me, Lucian. It scared me so badly that I shot out of my bed, sweating, panting and shaking. I had to turn on the lights and curl up into myself because the dark only made it worse… I don’t know how or why I’m telling you this, but I am and… the only solution to my fear was you… there wasn’t any emptiness or cold when you were with me… holding me… I never thought I would say this but, I want that again.”
He intertwined our fingers together a faint smile on his lips.
“If you would’ve asked, called, something, I would’ve come to you, no matter what the time. I wouldn’t let you be afraid.” I said with conviction and I knew that was true.
