Dimitri’s P.O.V.

After the wonderful weekend we had, it was time to go home and get back to the real world. Not something I was really looking forward to, but it had to be done. As soon as we got rid of the pests that decided to spew their bullshit around, Lucian and me could get back to having hot and wild sex twenty four seven.

When Luc pulled up to the gravel drive in front of my house I noticed there were two unfamiliar cars there. One black Hummer, which I knew wasn’t Alex’s because of the license plates, and one black SUV. Both cars had tinted windows, they were probably bulletproof and I could bet my ass that I knew who they belonged to. The look on Lucian’s face told me he knew too.

“Who the hell do you think you are?!” someone roared from inside the house making both of our heads snap in that direction. We gave each other an amused stare and locked hands, heading into the house.

As soon as I stepped foot into the doorway I heard strong growling coming from the living room. There were familiar scents of Rayne, Sasha, Nicholas, Alex, mom and dad, but there were also some new scents. And one of the new ones was reeking of power. Loads and loads of power.

I walked into the living room only to pull up short and make Lucian hit into my back. What I saw made my blood run cold in fear and my heart rate to pick up in amusement.

Nicholas was snarling and growling at a man who was sitting in one of the leather chairs. The situation would be ordinary if it weren’t for the man’s aura, which, by the way, was one of the strongest auras I have ever sensed. His face was like carved in ice, his muscles that could be visible even with the black uniform he was wearing looked like they were made from rock and his black gaze was like death itself.

I’ve seen many scary things and people, but never did I see someone like Marcus Black. And Nicholas was giving him a death glare.

“Does he have brain damage?” I asked Lucian though our mating link. Nicholas was one of his men, so Lucian should probably know if he has some mental illness, not that i ever heard of a case of mental illness with paranormal creatures, but there’s a first time for everything.

“Not that I know of.” Lucian responded and pressed his torso into my back.

Black trained his eyes on me, making Nicholas look behind him at us as well. Nick groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose.

“Lovely, another head ache just arrived. I seriously don’t need your love-love shit right now.” He pressed though clenched teeth.

“Nice to see you too Mr.Sunshine.  Do I need to pull out a Snickers bar for you to get back to yourself?” Lucian drawled out and led me to the love seat. I snickered and the rest of the room, aside from Black and his four guards, seemed to be having trouble containing their laugh.

Black and the men with him were unfazed and cold. Their posture was of ancient warriors that bought down pain in milliseconds. Their presence in the room bended the elements. So you can imagine my surprise when Nicholas turned around and snarled at Black again.

“If you do that again, I swear to whatever is up there, I will rip out your balls trough your nose.” At that, I expected Black to get up from the chair and show Nicholas who’s boss, but, the universe decided to surprise me once again as Black cracked a one side smirk and crossed his legs. Well, logs in black cargo pants and black combat boots would be a far better description. I could so imagine being kicked by one of those and my head flying off to never, never land.

“Feisty. I like it.” the deep, cold and powerful voice was like thunder. All authority and business, no fooling around. Not that I was lusting for another man, no way in hell. I was happily mated and nobody could replace my Lucian, but damn. Black was one scary ass fucker.

“I agree to that.” Lucian said through the mating bond and squeezed me tighter to himself, “Though I’d never admit it.” he added.

“Stay the hell out of my head.” Nicholas shut his eyes tightly and started shaking his head, the suddenly stopped. Letting out a long breath of relief he opened his eyes, an almost pleading look in them that vanished as quickly as it came. He got his composure back again and cleared his throat.

And in that moment I understood what was going on. I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry. Black was a mean-ass, strong-ass leader son of a bitch and Nicholas was a hard-headed smartass. Great job Fate, great job.

“Anyways,” Lucian decided to brake the awkward silence that came over the room, “do you want to tell us what problem you’re here about, Black?”

Black’s gaze left Nicholas and dropped onto Lucian. “Your mate was poisoned correct?” he asked in a monotone voice.

“Yes.” Lucian said apprehensively.

“The poison he was poisoned with is the reason I’m here. That and the sudden rise of rogue activity. After some digging and research my men and I found out that the rogues plan on using that poison to poison the water in this and many more areas.” Black deadpanned.

“How the heck did you manage to find that out?” Lucian asked.

“Torturing a rogue. He happily blabbered out their plans, but killed himself just before we could find out much more.” the tone in which Black said that said that he knew the rouge did that on purpose.

“It doesn’t matter how they found out, what matters is that countless humans could be victims in this. If they poison the water and humans drink it, they die instantly.” Nicholas said.

“Shit.” Lucian cursed. That was a pretty accurate description of the situation we were currently in.

“But, we have a plan.” Sasha said in a sing songy voice from the couch.

“And that would be?” I raised an eyebrow.

“Remember the speech you gave us when you were poisoned?” he continued when I nodded, “Well, we’re basically gonna kick them in the ass before they kick us.”

“How do you plan on doing that?” Lucian asked.

“Nicholas and I are going to create an antidote with the help of one of Black’s men who has extensive knowledge of poisons while the rest of you divide into two groups. One group will start notifying covens and killing as many rouges as possible while the other group is going to go on a search.” A feral grin appeared on Sasha’s face.

“How can you create an antidote?” I asked in the same time Lucian asked “Search for what?”

“The search has something to do with the antidote. We’ll figure out the whole antidote part out when we analyze the poison, but, for the antidote to be complete we need to find something and that’s where the search comes in. We need to find a Pheonix and make him or her give us his or her tears. And before you ask, it’s because he tears of a Pheonix can heal anything, so they would be possible to heal the poison.”

I sighed. “What do we do first?”

“Go eat, I’m starving.” Sasha said in suck a serious voice that it made me laugh. And most of the other people in the room too.

Well, now that we established we’re crazy enough, this battle might not be as hopeless as it seems.

I felt Lucian’s lips on my neck and heard the softly spoken words of “I’m with you forever.”. I just knew that I could do anything with him with me.
