Ch. 48 Universal Reset Part 3
I was still definitely very confused as I ate breakfast. However, I was able to not think about it because breakfast was AWESOME. Hari could definitely cook really well. I had no idea what the person whose body I was in was like, so I tried to stay quiet. There was some general conversation, occasionally about the food, but nothing that really required my input.
It was certainly an interesting group. Everyone seemed around the same age, about 14 or so. There were 5 of us, three guys including me and two girls. After breakfast, we began packing up the campsite. I assumed I should join in, so I gathered things up. As I was going through, I discovered a strange device in my sleeping bag. It was shaped like a sort of orb, and had a strap on it like a watch. I turned to Elecmon. "What's this?" I asked.
"It's your digivice. It gets you information about a digimon, you can use it to make me digivolve..."
"Digivolve?" I asked, in the meantime thinking, is everything named this lame?
"Basically we just get stronger, bigger, more awesome."
"Oh. Why didn't you just say so?"
He looked ready to continue, but suddenly, the ground shook violently. I threw the device onto my wrist and ran out. The first thing I saw was a large insect like thing. It had a big red shell over it or something. I also noticed a large animal thing, mostly a navy blue.
Elecmon nudged me. "Digivice. Use the digivice."
"Uh, right." I lifted it up. It began to beep, and then a large display appeared. It showed the insect, with a name below it.
"Kuwu...kuwe..."
"Kuwagamon." Elecmon whispered.
"Right." I sighed, then it showed the other one, saying Grizzlymon, which I could actually read. "Okay, so I...kind of know what we're dealing with...?"
I noticed everybody else pointing their "digivices" at their partners, and they began to glow brightly. I watched wide eyed as they emerged larger and frankly much more scary.
"Buddy!" I turned to see Elecmon. He nodded towards the monsters.
"Uh, right." I held the digivice up towards him. "Go do your thing."
He sighed as he was enveloped in bright light. I heard him begin to yell.
"Elecmon digivolve to..."
"Can we please skip the narrative?" I asked.
He shut up, and when the light burst, in his place stood a towering animal, easily 7 feet or taller. It seemed to be a lion of some sort, having a bright yellow mane around its head. He had a pair of black pants on, with a scabbard on its belt.
The digivice beeped, and displayed a screen. I looked between the two. "Leomon. Whoa."
He lunged forward, removing his sword and beginning to fight. I watched in amazement at one of the weirdest things I had ever experienced. I noticed that I couldn't see the others anymore now. However, I could see several new creatures fighting. I didn't know what they were, but Leomon stopped me from wondering any longer.
"Hey!" I looked up towards him. He punched the monster he was on, and strange, cube like bits floated out. "Capture it!"
I was about to reply in some quip-like manner that I had no idea what he was talking about when the device began to beep. It opened a strange hole on its front, and it flashed an image of the bits on its screen. I shrugged and held it up. A beam of light emerged from the hole, and the bits were absorbed. It flashed, then an automated voice said, "Ready for transference."
I tapped the screen, asking, "Transference of what?" Suddenly, I felt a wave of energy through my body. I felt strange, and bent over. I began to feel fur bristling on my back. I held my hands up as massive claws emerged, looking really dangerous, yet really awesome.
When it ended, I felt weird, but then noticed that I was just like the monster that was like a bear. I was blown away.
"Ho. Ly. Shit." I gasped aloud. Leomon looked at me in a very funny way, and I think he was about to question me on my language when I heard Hari's voice call, "Tommy! Hurry up!"
I turned towards the voice, and saw one of the creatures that I had seen helping earlier, but then my view of it sort of fizzled, and I could see Hari. "Woah. These guys are awesome. Right, on my way!"
As I came closer, Hari faded back, meeting me about halfway.
"Hey man. This guy's new. I hope you can handle fighting with claws."
I held up my hands. I retracted and extended the claws a few times. "Oh yeah." I grinned, "I think I can handle it."
I got into battle, attacking like everything was normal, like I was in my Pokemon form kicking ass on my world. It felt awesome. I bounced off of the landscape, striking from all angles. I finally lunged off as Leomon thrust his sword into the last one remaining. I landed and scraped my claws across each other. "Oh yeah. Good to be back with my blades."
We celebrated for a while, and at some point our transformations wore out. We all returned to camp, then began hiking somewhere. We were all pretty tired, so we didn't make it too far when I heard, "All right, let's stop for a while."
I gladly got down. After getting my tent and everything in it ready, I settled into my sleeping bag. Elecmon came in.
"Hey." I whispered to him. "Just so you know, I-well, this version of me-might not be here tomorrow. I don't know how it works exactly, but..."
"No problem. I can handle it. You were pretty sweet out there."
"Thanks." I yawned. I turned over and dozed off.
---
I was back in that weird empty place from before. I was in front of the cliff again, and this time I could hear more sound. Large shuffling, almost as if a piano were being moved. I began to hear some growls, which began to translate in my mind.
MORTAL...MORTAL...AWAKENED ME...BEWARE...
"Uh, sorry, but I didn't set your alarm clock buddy. That must have been someone else."
MORTAL WORLD...SUFFER...MORTAL LIVES...PERISH...NONE SHALL SURVIVE...
A pair of glowing red eyes shone from the darkness. A real cry that I didn't need to translate roared up the cliff and rung in my ears as I awoke.
"ARCEUS!!!"
