Ch. 71 Monsters Part 3
The door blew open in spectacular fashion as Lucario blasted it with incredible energy. We might have stood there in awe for a few more minutes, but we had alerted several creatures in the building to our presence, and they weren't too happy about that.
We began to make our way down the street. I punched a few that came close, really enjoying a little chance to fight back. Meanwhile, Lucario was blasting anything nearby with aura attacks. Lycanroc was blasting rocks out of his mouth (because he can do that, apparently), and I gotta say, we probably looked pretty badass.
Then we rounded a corner at high speed, and a massive crowd was wandering around. They turned towards us.
"Oh. S***." I whispered.
Lucario took us in another direction as the mob began to follow in hot pursuit.
"You know, this was fun for like ten seconds. I want it to be fun again."
"You'll have to worry about that later. This way." He turned another direction, and I quickly redirected myself. I couldn't tell the time anymore, I had lost my bearings after falling unconscious. It had been dark for a while, but that was about all I knew. I didn't get a lot of time to worry about that, since Lucario's voice interrupted my thinking, crying out "We're here!"
I refocused on the situation. We ducked behind a wall and looked at an electrical warehouse.
"Your company owns something this far out?"
"I suppose so."
The front was crowded by more monsters than I could count.
"How do you think we could get in?" Lycanroc asked.
"I have a plan." Lucario replied. He leaped out, and rushed towards the group of creatures like a complete idiot. He suddenly began zipping around like a bullet, hitting several of them away. I just kinda stood there and blinked in awe as he took out the entire group in a matter of seconds.
Lycanroc began running over to him, so I snapped myself out of it and followed him. As we were getting near Lucario, he dropped to a knee.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Yes. I'm alright. ExtremeSpeed. It...takes a bit out of me." He grunted, getting back to his feet.
"There isn't time to worry about that. We still have another group behind us, and they're coming fast."
"Right. Get inside!" Lucario commanded. We rushed up to the door. We tried opening it, but nothing happened.
"We should...we should be able to get inside."
I looked down at my hand. I glanced back up to the door. And then I did what came naturally. I knocked politely.
"What...the **** are you doing?" Lucario asked in bewilderment.
"Wow, you actually know how to curse? I just gained a bit of respect for you." I told him. As soon as I finished saying that, the door was opened. That much was a huge surprise considering my luck. What happened once they opened, however, was not.
A man wearing some sort of disheveled uniform came to the opening of the door, and pointed the barrel of a machine gun at us. "Get the hell out of here."
My eyes widened. "Hey, you're that FBI dude!" I looked him in the eyes. "Ugh, what happened to you?"
He looked at us, and sighed, putting his weapon down. "Once again, my name is Gerald Kaine."
"And once again, I simply don't care enough about what you say to remember that." I replied cheerfully.
Lycanroc seemed pushy. "Would you mind letting us in? We're in a bit of trouble here."
He rolled his eyes and pushed the door open a little further, letting us in. He promptly shut the door behind us, and set up barricading items in front of it.
I looked around the warehouse. Machinery was hooked up to virtually every part. Though the lights were dim, the whole area was illuminated by a bright glow from some glass chamber. The chamber seemed to have been broken. "Whoa. Okay, what did you say you guys did in here again?"
"They created the beserker formula. I wasn't heavily informed on the project, so I can't really tell you much more than that."
"Huh." I walked behind a desk that looked towards the chamber. I glanced down and saw a white lab coat lying on the ground, stained with blood. Nothing else was there, but there were some red marks stained into the ground.
I almost hurled. Almost.
"So what do we do now?" Lycanroc asked.
"Of course they figured that should something go wrong with the formula, they needed an antidote. It's in those." He pointed over to several large tanks of liquid I hadn't even noticed before.
"So what should we do?"
Our FBI friend, who had been fairly silent until now, decided to speak up. "It looks like this building has a high powered ventilation system. Maybe we could bump it up and get massive coverage with a gaseous form of the antidote."
Lucario turned to him. "Impressive. I suppose that would work. Very well."
"Would it be very effective even?" Lycanroc questioned, "After all, a number of them are likely inside buildings."
"The gas is very fast moving, it should find a way into any building it comes to.
I nodded. "So...I guess that's that. You guys get working on that."
As they began, the pounding on the barricade became harder. The doors shook and splintered wood was occasionally flying from the doorway.
"We can't finish this if they get in here." FBI dude told us.
"Well then," Lycanroc turned to me. "Do you feel like getting your hands dirty?"
The feeling of excitement that built up in me was unmatched. "Oh hell yeah."
