Ch. 70 Monsters Part 2
I'm honestly very surprised I wasn't shot immediately. That being said, it didn't exactly go magically.
I stepped out and closed my eyes and waited. When I heard pretty much nothing happen, I opened my eyes again and saw that they hadn't actually noticed me.
"They really aren't making this any easier..." I sighed. I walked forward and called a little louder, "Excuse me!"Crap. That wasn't too rude, was it?
Suddenly, several turned towards me, and began pointing their weapons at me. "Huh. Guess it was."
Someone came looked up from the top of the tank. "Stay back! Down on the ground!"
I stood for a second, surprised from the speed and discipline. I shook my head. "Yeah, no, sorry. I just wanna talk."Some rushed towards me, and grabbed my arms. "Hey! I said I wanna talk!"
The man on the tank looked back down into the body of the vehicle. He seemed to say something before dropping in again. For about three seconds I was freaked out that I was going to die by tank shot to the face.
Thankfully, someone else came out of the top, and made his way to the ground and towards me. He seemed familiar, but I couldn't really place it.
"Well well well, what have we here?" He asked, looking me in the eye.
Something popped into my head. "Oh yeah, aren't you that guy that threatened to shoot at me inside a crowded commercial airplane?"
He frowned, and leaned forward. "I am FBI agent Gerald Kaine, in case you forgot."
"Uh huh. I'm still gonna remember you because you threatened to kill me ON A PLANE."
He ignored me. "These men are here on orders from the U.S. Army to contain an outbreak. An outbreak, that I believe YOU are infected with. The only reason you haven't been taken down is because you certainly seem like your arrogant self to me."
"I'll take that as a compliment."
"Good. Maybe you'll actually leave when I tell you are against the law if you interfere with this."
"Oh really? Gee, that's never happened before." I smirked.
"This is a serious emergency. Surely you realize that."
"Of course I do. That's why I'm here to tell you to pack up and go home."
"You are in no way in the position to give orders to these men."
"I know. Call it friendly advice. Like, 'if you value your life then get out of here' kind of friendly advice."
"That's what these men signed up for."
"No it's not. They signed up for war. This is a slaughterhouse. They signed up to fight people trying to shoot back at them. These are nearly unstoppable monsters that won't hesitate to tear them apart."
"I don't see the difference."
"You will."
I stared as seriously into his eyes as I ever had in my life.
"Please. You'll regret it."
"No can do."
He walked silently back to the tank, and after climbing back in, the troops began moving again.
"Fine. Suit yourself." I growled, and walked back towards Lucario and Lycanroc.
"No good. They're not actively hunting us, but they pretty much are ordered to shoot us if they see us do anything."
