Another Chance at Love

Chapter 9

I walked to school the next day not knowing what to say to Natty. I didn't know if she was mad at me or not. She probably hated me. I just wasn't in the mood yesterday. I walked into Chemistry and Natty wasn't there. She lived 10 minutes away so she never was late so I waited for her to come class. It went from 5 minutes to 10 minutes to 30 minutes and no Natty. She never came. I went to History wondering where she was. When I went to lunch and she wasn't there. I was worried about her so I got up and left the school to walk to her house. When I got there I knocked on the door. When she came and answered the door her hair was down and she was wearing pajama pants with a black tank top. She turned her face when she answered the door and she had a huge cut on her face.
"Natty what happened."
"Nothing I fell, why are you here."
"I was worried cause you never miss school. And it doesn't look like you fell."
"I pretty sure I know what happened to me. Just go back to school."
She was closing the door but I put my hand out to block it.
"Natty I told you things I never told anyone because I trusted you,so why can't you trust me."
She turned around and she looked like she was about to cry so I just hugged her to make her feel better.
"My dad's just really stressd out and he throw a picture frame at me. He's having a hard time paying rent and I don't know what to do."
"It'll get better not worry."
"No, it's not he lost his job. How is suppose to pay the rent."
"Help him get another job, I guess."
I really didn't know how to help her. I hurt me that I didn't know how to. I just hugged her while she cried. Her life was really falling apart. But life always gets better.
"My mom use tell me when ever life seems like it's over, it always gets better."
"Josh how is anything gonna get better. Nobody wants to hire someone who didn't even finish highschool."
"You never know."
I just sat on her porch while she rested her head on my shoulder.
