I was just another girl
Who dreamt like the rest of the world
If I ever saw a model,
I'd wish that I were skinnier
When I saw a dancer
I’d hope I could move so gracefully
When I saw a singer
My only longing would be
To possess a voice as sweet as hers
Night and Day,
I’d hope and pray
To acquire a talent
I'd be proud of someday
Because, with all those brilliant people around me
I’d wonder why I lacked a certain ability
Again I wished, again I prayed
With hope, which day by day would fade.
I’d reminisce the things I did as a kid
To do them again, without making people cringe.
But then one day, I saw a beggar
On the cold, damp street with clothing so meager
And I just looked up the sky in gratitude
To convey to God, a hearty ‘thank-you’
For I may have never realized how privileged I was
Until I saw a person who lived on mercy of others.
Author's Note
Okay people, I know it really, realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyy sucks, but I just wanted to post it regardless of its sucking ability.
Because I think everyone has a million wishes to achieve something in life, but in 'wanting more' we always forget what we already have.
