Hank's P.O.V.

After I close the door. I walk towards the trees where Buck and Coco are tied up to so they wouldn't run away in the snowstorm and get lost. As I was walking I thought about the breakfast that Molly made for us this morning. It was so good that I would love to wake up every day to Molly's cooking.

20 minutes later

We where mounting up on our horses and head back to the ranch. Molly was riding beside me on Coco and me on Buck. Buck and Coco was walking at a nice pace.

"Hank," Molly says.

"Yes," I say.

"I was wondering if the rumor was true ?," she asked.

"What rumor," I said confused.

"The rumor that the cowboy's are saying about the ranch," she says. "You know the legend  about the ranch."

"Oh, that rumor," I say. "It is true."

"What is it about. The cowboy's only told me that their is a legend. But they didn't say what it is?" she asked.

"The legend is that there was a wild horse named Shallow. Shallow was with his hers on this ranch. He was hard to break for anyone to ride him, they say that if you could break him, you can have him. The thing was no one could break him, he was stronger, braver and a fighter," I said proudly.

"Wow," she said.

"But through the coming months there was no rain and the river that goes through the ranch started to dry up. Shallow and his herd had move around and try to find water, but that was only river around here. Shallow could live without water for long distance but the herd couldn't live that long without water. He knew that he couldn't take his herd with him, so he left them there at the river, but there was one that wouldn't stay. The people called her the Gentle Little wild horse, she would came up to people and let them pet her. She was gentle, kind and brave. So they left together," I say softly.

"Wow, he had to leave them that's sad, but she wouldn't leave him. That is so brave of her to stay with him," she says sadly.

"Years later they came back with more wild horses. But it was to late, the herd they left years ago was gone from lack of water. The river was up again. So they lived there for the rest of their lives. But that all changed 3 months later horse round ups started going after Shallow's herd, it was said that they wonded to capture Shallow and breed him to their prize mares, but Shallow didn't won't to leave his herd behind. So he fought back and killed 3 people from the round up, he run up the hill with his herd and the round up people chasing them. He knew that the people would keep coming after him, so he knew that there was a cliff on the hill, so he and the whole herd jumped off the cliff and killed themselves. But after they died the people said that you could still see him and the herd running near the river at night," I say sadly.

"That is so sad, that they had to kill themselves to be safe from the people," she says crying a little. "Have you seen them running a night?"

"No," I say softly.

"Is that why the ranch is called Shallow Creek because of Shallow and the river?" She asked smiling.

"Yup," I say smiling a little.

"That is nice to honour the legend and his herd," she says smiling.

We walked over to the pasture gate and open it to get to the other pasture. Then we turned and started loping towards the ranch in silences.
