Hank's P.O.V. (At the top is Hank's horse Buck)
I was just riding into the ranch when I seen one of my part-time ranch hand coming out of the barn. Jake turns around to see who is coming towards him. He stays there waiting for me to ride over to him.
"Hey, Hank", he says nervously.
"Hey, Jake", I say. "What's going".
"Will you know that I'm going to college in the fall", he says, " I was going to tell you that I quit today because I need to be ready for college".
"Jake I understand that college is more important to you then ranching ok", I say, "because ranching wasn't really my thing until after the accident that killed my father and that I was the only person left to run the ranch".
"Thanks for understanding, Hank", he says.
"Your welcome, Jake", I say, "just come and see us when you get".
"Ok, Hank", he says walking towards the bank house.
I watch him walk away. I turn towards the barn and lead in Buck to his stall. I started to untacking him and putting his tack in the tack room. After I was finished untacking him, then I put him in his stall. Then after I put in his stall I went to the house to change the schedule for the ranch hands for that week.
In the house office
I was changing the schedule I know did's that Molly and Jake were going to be checking on the cows and calves tomorrow night so I thought that I would go with her and we would back by 8:00 after checking them.
I looked at the clock it was 5:00 pm and thought that Molly should be back now. So I headed out of my office going down the hall towards the kitchen and out of the house. Walking towards the barn to talk to Molly.
