nightmare |e|

he was running after me and as i look back to see the gun in his hand, i begin to trip over my own feet. i fall to the cold ground and hear him come closer. he grabs me and puts the knife to my neck and-

my nightmare is interrupted when i shoot up in the bed out of breath and grab my chest. i feel warm tears running down my face as i let out a small sob. my body is shaking from fear as i touch my face to make sure i'm not having another dream.

i grab my phone and dial my boyfriends number not caring what time of night it was. it rings three times and he picks up.

"y/n? baby what's wrong?" he answers in a raspy voice.

"can you c-come over? i had a bad dream"

"aw baby of course i'll be there in a little bit. i love you and don't go anywhere."

"okay i love you too" I reply sniffling and hang up
i crawl under my blankets into a small ball and continue crying.

i hear the door downstairs open and close again and hope it's ethan considering that he has a key. my bedroom door opens and in comes a messy haired and tired face ethan. i scoot over a little bit and he lays under the blankets next to me. he pulls me in for a hug and rubs my back.

"it's okay baby. don't cry, now tell me what this nightmare was about.." he says in a sweet tone.

i tell him about my nightmare and i can just sense the concerned look on his face through the darkness. he kisses my lips softly and pulls me close to him.

"i'm here now to protect you. you're okay, try and sleep. i love you." he whispers into my hair.

i nod and lay my head on his chest. it becomes silent in the room until i interrupt it.

"ethan?" i whisper

"yes babygirl?"

"i couldn't ask for a better person to be with honestly. thank you for everything."

"i feel the same about you y/n.. and don't ever thank me for doing what i'm supposed to as a boyfriend. but thank you for always being there and sticking with me. i genuinely love you." he says, kissing the top of my head.

"i genuinely love you too"

i feel my eyes beginning to shut slowly and my thoughts drifting away. soon enough i was asleep..
