the sky at night has always intrigued me. just the thought that there's more than 100 billion stars in the universe is crazy. that's more people than the earth will have in 15 years. there's hundreds of billions of galaxies out there and we're only part of one.

imagine how many planets are capable of having life on them. we can't be the only living things created.

i find myself staring at the sky late at night on my rooftop, lost in thought. i check my phone, the light reflecting on my face and it shows that it's 2 a.m. grayson and i attended a party earlier that night and he ended up getting very drunk.

i decided to give him a break from being the responsible, sober driver. he enjoyed himself and it made me happy seeing him let loose. he's been tense a lot with the extra college classes and things. as soon as we got home, he went straight to sleep.

i couldn't ask for someone better in my life honestly. i pray that everyone gets the chance to have someone as special as grayson. i smile to myself and look for the 'big dipper.'

i hear shuffling and someone climbing out of my window. the figure lays next to me. it's grayson of course.

"hi baby." he says quietly grabbing my hand and kissing the back of it.

"hey gray, did you have fun at the party?" i ask faintly blushing.

"i can't really remember babe. i still feel really happy though." he chuckles and smiles brightly.

i look at him and smile softly, just taking in the beautiful moment. i'm infatuated by him.

"do you see that up there?" i ask him pointing towards the shooting star.

"wow, it's mesmerizing. i wonder if they ever hit the ground." he whispers and then closes his eyes.

"they do, it's only a little part of it that survives and makes it to the ground though."

he looks at me and then begins speaking with so much love laced in his words.

"if i could find that star, i'd go get it and bring it to you. it'd be proof that wishes actually come true. every night i see a star, i wish for you to be with me when i wake up. so far, it's granted my wishes and i couldn't ask for anything better."

so many emotions go through my veins. even drunk, he's so genuine and shows so much love for me. i grab his face and kiss him with passion. he kisses back immediately and i smile into the kiss.

after we both pull away, it's silent for a little bit. we're both caught up in the constellations and brightness of every individual star.

"i have a present for you y/n." he says and climbs back into the window.

he returns holding a box. i sit up and cross my legs, my fuzzy socks rubbing against my calves. he sits in front of me and opens the box.

"i got you a telescope so you can see everything you adore up close." he says and passes it to me.

my heart feels warm and my eyes begin to water. i wrap my arms around his strong body and embrace him.

"thank you gray, i love you so much." i say into his shoulder and inhale his scent.

"you're welcome babygirl, i love you too." he says into my ear and pecks my neck lovingly.
