Winter was starting to come around. The nights were getting cold. You, Link, and your brothers all sat around a fire in front of your houses. Jonas had moved in with Ashur. They had just finished building his room to the house. Jonas had no luck with Ilia no matter how persistent it was. You found it ironic that the most persistent stalker wouldn't take a suitor who had the same habits as her. You cuddled up next to Link in a blanket as Ashur told a story about a bar maiden that tried to kill him over some wine. "It's a shame really. She had some breasts that would knock any man out." You all laughed around the fire. Jonas cleared his throat and turned to you and Link. "So (y/n) how did you know that Link was the one? I want to know the origin of this perfect couple." You looked up at Link. He squeezed your hand and began to tell them the story from beginning to end. Of course he left out the drunken night at the inn. "I saw (y/n) in that ball gown and I almost instantly knew she was the one. She looked like a goddess." Jonas made a gagging sound. "What's so disgusting Jonas?" You said defensively. "Link, I love you, but that's a sappy story. Did you guys dance the night away?" You held your head high. "Yes we did actually!" Jonas snorted but Ashur looked at you intently. "This is too perfect of a story. Where's the tragedy?" Link sighed and looked at you. "You want to take over this part?" You nodded and told them of your run in with the Bubblin. "It was going fine. We were cutting them down easily, until one grabbed my hair and dragged me like a doll." Ashur stared at you but Jonas looked away gritting his teeth. "My body burned. They had broken my spine and I would have been paralyzed if Link hadn't come and taken me to the spring." Link reached for your hand. "The fairies saved my life, if I had survived the pain, I would have been paralyzed." Jonas looked at the floor. "Are you okay Jonas?" He shook his head. "No, I'm not okay. We should have came back for you! You wouldn't have been hurt! We swore to dad we would protect you, and look!" You stood up. "Jonas, you can't bomb yourself for what happened in Ramona. It isn't somet-" Ashur stood up "Bullshit! We could have saved you and mom!" Where was all this coming from? Had they been holding these feeling all this time?" You approached your brothers. They were so tall compared to you. You reached your either faces and brought them down leveled with yours the way your mother would when they got out of line. "Listen you two. We can't change the past! What matters is that we're here now together! Blaming yourself won't bring mom back and it won't take away and scars any of us have gotten over this past year and a half! If you stay in the past then your future is going to leave you behind! Now suck it up!" You sounded strong but you had tears running down your face. Because you too needed this closure for yourself. Your brothers looked at you. Jonas opened his mouth to protest but you snapped at him. "Jonas don't you say a word! We are here together as a family and that's that!" You led them go and started to walk away. Ashur called after you. "I know you're going to the spring. I'll just follow you there." You turned back around and sat next to Link. You sighed and looked up to the stars. It was awkwardly quiet. Link tried to start up conversations but they only got one word answers. Jonas was the first to stand up. He went to his house without another word. Link kissed you on the cheek and told Ashur goodnight. You were about to do the same when Ashur grabbed your hand. "Don't go just yet." You looked your brother in the eyes. The same color as your fathers. The same color as yours. He lead you to the spring to talk. He sat down and asked you to braid his hair. As you twisted his long (h/c) strands he spoke. "Don't be mad at us (y/n). You don't understand the guilt that weighed on us the whole time you were gone." You tightened your grip on his hair. "I thought we were passed this." Ashur sighed. "You might be, but you haven't seen what Jonas and I have seen." You finished his hair and sat next to him. Ashur took a deep, shaky breath. "I saw mom. I saw when he smashed her head in. I cut him down, but it was too late to save her." Tears started flowing down his face. "I saw so many people die. And you were nowhere to be found. I thought they had gotten to you too. Jonas and I took what we had and wandered for a while. A caravan was passing by and gave us food. Jonas joined them. He thought running away would help him forget. I tried getting a job in castle town but it didn't last very long. I went to the woods and mugged people for food. It was hard. Then I found you. I thought I was dreaming. I had so many dreams of you, I thought I had gone mad. And now to know that you were alive and we weren't there to protect you, we feel like shit." You felt guilt. You shouldn't have made them feel that way. You hugged your brother. "I'm so sorry." He ran his hand through your hair. "It's me who should be sorry." "I have to talk to Jonas." "I've been here the whole time. You guys are so predictable." Jonas came out. The three of you hugged each other in tears. It was the closure you all needed.
