Light's shaking shoulder is what made him be thrown back into the waking world, eyes blinking away sleepiness. He first checked the time on the clock over the bedside table, then rolled over on his back to sit up, catching L's gaze in his. "I hate to be the bearer of bad news," L's hand reached up to twirl a group of strands in his hair. "but you did make a promise with Misa concerning a date." Light's body kicked full of adrenaline, shock tumbling over his figure. "What?" Light stared off in disbelief.

That's right -- Today was Thursday, L had agreed to one date under supervision, Light kicked the sheets off of his body, scrambling to find his outfit for the day. He glanced back at Ryuzaki, eyeing his face. He didn't sleep last night, he noted, hopping into some jeans.

After getting fully dressed and ready to start the morning, the two walked to the coffee shop Light frequents, scanning the building for the shorter woman. The bell on the door went off once again, forcing Light's eyes to the end of his search. His brows cocked, as he scanned over the outfit she was wearing. As if reading his mind, she gave a weak smile. "I had a photo shoot butt crack early this morning. How'd you guys sleep?" Misa's eyes jumped to L, which had already almost answered her question. "I slept alright, and you Misa?" Light asked, a wide smile curling her red painted lips.

"Pretty okay -- oh! I want to get your opinion on something." Getting seated in a booth, she took an orange envelope from underneath her arm and took two photos out, slightly contrasted each other, presumably from her photo shoot. "Which one looks best? I couldn't decide for the life of me back at the studio. I like wearing black more than red but the director said I look better in red." Light turned to L, who actually looked invested in giving his opinion as he scanned the two pictures carefully. "I take more kindly to you in black, Miss Misa." She smiles, and gives a small nod. "I love both too much to decide." Light gave a sweep of his hand to the back of his neck, almost in a  sheepish manner. "Are you still playing in the new thriller coming out soon?" Light asks, the waitress placing the tray of drinks down with a small thunk of the wooden table, taking turns with each drink placing them in front of the three patrons. "Enjoy." The waitress walks off without much more said, Misa taking a small sip of her coffee before answering, "Technically, I can't say so for sure, but they did call me back for another run through of the script." Misa buries her wide, proud smile back in her cup. "Congratulations Miss Amane." L comments before stirring sugar cubes in his tea. Light gives an acknowledging expression, brows raised as he sipped on his beverage as well, "That's wonderful."

You think he'll actually-?

Ryuk's gruff and raspy voice asks in Rem's ear, not being in the slightest bit discreet with the volume of his tone. Rem gives a single nod, lips curling to form a smirk, eyes looking down at Light in an almost taunting manner. He had almost forgotten they were there, as if he had been living a completely -- unimportant life. Ryuk followed Rem's nod with a sharp cackle, Light's eye giving a light twitch. He had wished, just for a moment, he could shut that Shinigami up, but he knew he couldn't for his own good. After all, what is stopping him from choosing sides now?

Although Ryuk's continuous laughter made it difficult to catch up between Misa and L's current conversation, Light just mindlessly sipped at the sweetened coffee, enjoying the milky cream that sat on top.

It was a long day ahead, and Light refused to have Ryuk -- of all... beings to make it longer.

Hours soon dripped away, time out of control and snatched away as the dusk sky loomed over the Earth, L's eyes drawn to the colors, cut short as they walked back into the building the Task Force was located. "I think after how well you behaved a shower is long overdue." L comments, hands in his pockets, a hint of muse in his emotionless voice. Was that his attempt at a joke? How could he say something so casual but so -- Light shook the thought from his mind. Never has he had a thought so taboo, so dangerous. The praise swelled in Light's chest, almost decadently too much. "I'd say it's about that time of the night." Light agreed, much too exhausted to fight against the rule L put into place.
