chapter 7 : Medicine at its best

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping, I don't remember clearly on what just happened but I remember a sharp pain on the back of my head. I tried to touch it but it was too painful, I could feel the swollen part.

I looked around and saw that I was in a big spacious room, it looked like high class, I don't understand, where am I?

A knock was heard from the door and someone came inside, it was a maid, she looked at me and shouted to someone outside," Young Master, the young lady is awake and is now sitting down."

I saw Ashton coming in with the maid, the maid carried breakfast. Ashton reached to the bed and sat at the side of the bed," How are you feeling?"

" I just feel pain from the back of my head but otherwise I'm fine. Where am I? What happened to going to the library?"

The maid placed the food in which I assume is my breakfast on the table beside me and excused herself. " You should eat something first and restore your energy, you've been asleep for 3 days now," he said while placing my breakfast on top of the bed.

3 days?! What happened to me? I couldn't have possibly slept for 3 days, did something bad happened? I remember going to the library but I don't remember the rest. wait, I remember those bandits, they ambushed us and I tried to run away but afterwards my vision became blurry.

I took a sip of the tea and asked," What really happened to me? why did I sleep for 3 days? What is this place?"

Ashton looked at me and said," I'm sorry, I was supposed to take you to the library but then those bandits came and tried to rob us. One of them managed to hit the back of your head , that's why your having that pain. The concussion he gave you made you pass out and the doctors didn't know what happened but they said you were still alive. They tried to help wake you up but nothing seemed to work but after 2 days, doctors said you were back from coma."

I took a bite of the egg they cooked and stared at him intently," Why am I here?"

He scratched his head and said," I decided that it was my fault that you ended up being hospitalized and the least I could do was take care of you, this is the guest room of my manor, you've been staying in my manor."

I stared at him with surprise, this is his manor? He must be very wealthy, I thought he was just the mayor's son, assuming they had a big house .

" I thought your father was the mayor?" I said and finishing my breakfast. He looked at me and chuckled," He is the mayor and yes his position may not seem show any logical explanation with having this manor, but he is also one of the noble family in this country, my father preferred living in this town because it's not wide."

I stared at him with disbelief, he's a nobleman's son, exactly the same with Ivan. Lucia and I do share the same fate but Ashton's different, he brought me to his home, they must have known! That I'm not from a noble family, did they?

I pulled him closer and whispered to his ear," Do they know that I'm not from a noble family? Or a wealthy family?"

I realised that I was putting him too close to me and pushed him quickly, he looked at me and smiled, he shook his head indicating that they didn't. Thank goodness, I started blushing from thinking about what I did earlier and looked away.

I could see Ashton smiling before looking away and he asked me,"Can you walk? If you can, I'd like you to come out to the garden, the flowers are beautiful out there."

Flower! I missed the smell of flowers, I've been smelling medicine, perhaps due to the injury I had, I said yes. " Carol! Get her the dress that I bought this morning and help her change into it, I expect you to be done after 15 minutes, see you then."
