(Walker is standing near his desk. The room is dark, save for a few candles lit around the room. Walker has his back to the audience. He has one hand to his forehead and one hanging down with a knife in it.)
Walker: These people, they're idiots. (Angrily, through gritted teeth) Why are they trying so hard to escape their fate?
(He stabs the table with a knife. Suddenly, footsteps can be heard running, getting louder with each step. Daria then comes into the room. Walker turns to look at her.)
Daria: (Panting slightly) Walker? Walker, what are you doing down here?
Walker: (With a look of fear on his face, standing in Daria's view of the knife) I-I'm just doing some work.
Daria: For what?
Walker: (Quickly) For school.
Daria: Oh, I'm sorry then. Saturn is here. He wants to talk to you.
Walker: (Confused, then stern) Saturn...send him in.
(Daria promptly exits the room. Walker looks in the other direction and breaths a sigh of relief.)
Walker: (Under his breath) Damn.
(Walker plucks the knife out from his desk and lays it on the desk. Saturn then comes into the room.)
Saturn: Walker?
Walker: Saturn.
Saturn: Walker, what happened to you? You used to be such a good person. What happened to him?
Walker: I don't know what you're talking about.
Saturn: (Stepping closer to Walker) I know what you've been doing.
Walker: (Backing against the desk) What do you mean?
Saturn: You're the reason everyone's died recently. You're the reason we had to go into hiding. You're the reason Hudson is having fits of hysteria. You're the reason Daria never goes out anymore. You're the reason all these awful things have happened. You: you're the reason.
Walker: Saturn, you're making a big mistake.
Saturn: I promise, I'm not going to hurt you or turn you in. All I ask is that you stop with all this. You're hurting people. You're hurting Daria.
Walker: (Yelling, pushing Saturn away) Lies! You're lying! I've never done any of that.
(Walker suddenly turns around and grabs the knife off his desk. He turns back to Saturn and holds the knife up towards Saturn.)
Saturn: (Fearfully What are you doing?
Walker: Don't speak! No more words!
Saturn: But-
Walker: Silence!
(Walker steps toward Saturn, forcing Saturn against the wall. Walker continues to step closer to Saturn)
Saturn: Walker, please, don't do this.
Walker: I told you to stop talking!
Saturn: Walker, please.
Walker: No more!
(Walker plunges the knife into Saturn's neck. Saturn looks at Walker, a glazed look in his eyes. Walker retracts the knife from Saturn's throat and holds the knife by his side. Saturn then falls to the ground, choking and gasping frequently. Footsteps can be heard running toward the room. Walker then falls to the ground, coughing. Saturn becomes silent. Daria enters the room again.)
Daria: (Frightened, running over to Walker) What happened?
Walker: (Sitting up, trying to catch his breath) He...he started attacking me. I did the only thing I could think to do. I...I pulled my knife out on him and stabbed him. I was...only on trying to defend myself.
Daria: (Hugging Walker's neck and then kissing him) It's fine. Let's just be thankful you're okay and that this awful man is dead. (Contemptuously, looking at Saturn) I always knew he would be a criminal one day. I mean, he made most his money selling hallucinogenics. People like that can't be good. (Looking back at Walker) You promise you're okay, though.
Walker: I promise
