Chapter 7: Strange
Kayla p.o.v
People glared at me as I bumped into them, trying to run away from those freaks.I spotted the girls bathroom and went in.I waited two minutes and then stepped out.
The hallway was completly empty which was weird.The bell hadn't even gone off yet.There should be at least a few people wondering about.But there wasn't, the place was deserted.I Suddenly wondered if there was some kind of fire drill I missed.But that was out of the question since I would have heard the alarm if there was a fire drill.
There was a eerie silence in the hallway and I felt like I was being watched.As I was about to turn around and leave, I bumped into what I assumed was a body.
"Oh my god, I didn't see you there, are you okay?",I asked a mixed-race girl with green eyes and black hair.
"Don't worry,its fine,do you want me to show you to your next class?",She asked.
"Sure",I said confused.
I mean She wasn't the least bit pissed off and She didnt show any signs of pain and I'm sure I bumped into her pretty hard.Just then her eyes turned black.Yes black as in pure black,you couldn't even see her pupuls and just a second later they turned back to green.God, I really must be hallucinating today.Better not tell mom about this, she'll probably ship me of to some mental asylum.
"Im Sasha by the way, let me see your schedule".
"Im Kayla".
"I know",she said.
"Wait, how did you know,we've just met?", i asked confused,yet again.
"News travels fast around here",then she laughed like i was missing some kind of joke.
I searched my bag,digging around to find it,once found,I handed it to her.
"Let's see,P.E with Mr Shields.Lucky you I have P.E too".
"Shit, i dont have my gym stuff",i groaned.
Great, just great.
"Don't worry i have a spare but i think it will be a bit small on you".
"Thanks", i breathed out a sigh of relief.
We walked down the hallway.
"So,are the hallways always this empty?",I ask casually making a conversation.
"Nope, but trust me you'll wish they were always empty when you get stuck in the morning rush-hour".
Great,It will be just like human traffic.
We stopped short already at the girls changing room.Sasha handed me her spare gym clothing and went to go get changed.
The gym clothing consisted of a polo shirt which was royal blue with yellow vertical stripes on either side and the school logo on the top right and a pair of flexible tight black shorts.
The shirt reached a few inchies above my hips, so if I stretched, you could see my belly-button ring and the shorts reached just below my butt.I had to wear my converses because Sashas running shoes were a size five whereas I was a size eight.
"Yeah,sorry it doesn't fit",She apolagized.
"Don't worry, its fine",I reassured her.
We headed down to the track.Once we got there,the guys staring my way let out wolf whistles while staring at my outfit.They were practically undressing me with their eyes and most of the girls were glaring at me.Great, I was already public enemy number one to almost all the girls in this school.
"Looks like we have a new student",says a bulky man who looked like he was in his late thirties.
"I'm Mr shields and you are?"."Kayla,I replied.
"Do you play any sports,were you on any teams in your old school?".
"Yeah, I was on my schools track,hockey and swim team.Dance and cheeleading too,even though their not sports",I concluded.
"You Know you could try out for track now,and try out for the rest later this week", he suggested.
"Sure".
"Wow great job,you defeatenly made the team,and well done on your school records",he finished.
I managed to beat the girls school record for everything in track and field.I noticed we had an audience, they were proberly watching the whole thing.
"Wow,you were amazing",Sasha gushed.
"Thanks".I looked around to seeing people walking around, but thats not what I was concentrating on.
I was distracted by seeing several peoples eyes change colour. Blue to black,brown to an eye-blinding grey,the colours varied.
"Did you see that?",I asked.
"See what?"
"I swear I keep on seeing peoples eye colour change every few seconds".
"What,your proberly just hullucinating",Sasha said with a nervous laugh.
But I didn't buy it,I've seen it way too much to be hullucinating. Something wasn't right.
Once we were changed we stepped out of the changing rooms,laughing.My back hit a hard chest.God,what is with me bumping into people.I turned and saw one of those hot twins,the one with green eyes.
"I'm sorry", I said, for what felt like the hundredth time today.
"Its fine", he said in his deep baritone voice.
Then he just stared at me for what felt like forever.
"Um,I'll just leave you two to it",Sasha said in a awkward tone.
I instantly felt guilty,I forgot She was there.
"Bye,catch you later",She said them wandered off.
"I'm Hunter",he introduced himself.
"Kayla",I said back.
There was an awkward silence.
"So,do you like it here?",he asked.
No,this place was strange and weird but i kept that to myself.
"Its alright",I said choosing my words carefully.
"So what are you?",he asked sounding curious.
"Um excuse me?",did that creep just ask me what I was?
He must have seen my confused,yet outraged face and said,"So you don't know what you are?",he looked astonished.
"uh, human?",I mean what else could i be,an alien?
"Um sorry", he said.
I looked around to see if anyone else was around,witnessing this crap.But the place was empty.
I looked up to see that he was gone.What the hell,I didn't ven hear him leave.Its like he dissapeared out of thin air.I felt like my parents had bought me a one-way ticket to crazyville.
After that strange encounter, I headed to the lunch hall.
