Chapter 13: Don't Go To The Woods
Kayla p.o.v
At school everyone was talking about the attacks. Some people were crying because they knew the victims.
At lunch it was the hot topic. People were voicing their theories. There are rumors flying around that there's some kind of psychopath, serial killer on the loose.
"Hey, you going to eat that?", Alexis asked.
Distracting me from my thoughts.
"No, you can have it", I said sliding my taco to her.
Suddenly a dark shadow loomed over me.
"Kayla, can I talk to you for a sec?" I recognised that voice .
It was Hunter.
I turned around only to prove that I was right . I didn't say anything.
"Please", he said desperately.
"Fine", I said and got up.
While we were walking through the cafeteria everyone was staring at us . Great more gossip.
Once we were out of the cafeteria, I stopped walking. I just wanted to get this over with.
"So what do you want to talk to me about?", I asked him suddenly curious.
"Have you been to the woods lately?"
What a weird question. Seriously, he interrupted my lunch just because he was curious to know if I've been to the woods.
"No, I haven't", I answered back.
"Well good, don't go, especially by yourself its very dangerous."
"Seriously, I'm not an idiot of course I won't go . I don't want to get my head chewed off."
"Just making sure. There are things out there that could end you within a second. I'd hate for you to end up like the others."
I was suddenly curious. What 'things' are he talking about and what does he mean by ending up like the others. Surely he knows something. Could he possibly know what's out there killing innocent people?
"What's in the woods?"
I could tell my question took him off guard.
"Look, all you need to know is that it's dangerous there."
And with that he started walking away.
What a pleasant conversion. I sighed and made my way back to the table.
"What was that about?", Sasha asked.
Alexis nodded since her mouth was stuffed with food.
"Just Hunter being his usual creepy self", I answered vaguely.
The day blurred and I still found myself thinking about what Hunter said I was still curious. It seemed he knew something about the killings.
