Chapter 16: New Discoveries

As I soon as i left the hospital, I went to the local library. At this point anything could be possible. Hell, I wouldn't be suprised if my name wasn't actually Kayla..
The smell of old and new book's filled my sense's as I opened the doors. This library was pretty big. It'll probably take a long time for me to find something. Seeing the librarian, I walked up to her and gave her a polite smile. She had blonde graying hair, big rimmed glasses, brown doe eyes and a sweet round figure. She had a 'sweet old lady' vibe.
"How can I help you dear?", she askes me with a smile crinkling her eyes at the edges.
"Do you have any folklore stories here. I need it for my mythology class", I lied and I instantly felt bad. Anyone would feel bad for lying to a sweet old lady. But I needed to do this.
"Oh yes. We have a few. Come with me I'll show you", she says and starts walking. I follow her.
"Ah here we are".
"Thank you", I said.
"Your welcome honey.", she said smiling and walked away.
That was strange. It was like she was smiling cause she knew a hidden secret. No. Maybe all this crap is getting to me. Well not maybe. Certainly. It is certainly getting to me and next I'll have to admit myself into an asylum.
She was right. There were quite a few book's on folklore. Some were really old and other's looked brand new. I decided to look at the new ones first. I picked up a book, Mythology 101. Not helpful it just had a bunch of theories in it, no actual fact's. In fact, all the new ones did too. Maybe the old ones would be better. Picking up the old ones, I walked to a secluded area to read them. I didn't want to be disturbed.
The first book, I didn't understand what the title mean't. It looked like it was written in either Greek or Latin. Opening it, I was suprised it had English in it, but it was translated. From either Greek or Latin to English. I could see keyword's like 'Lamia', 'Lupi' ' Dies ambulatories' ' Noctem ambulatories' ' Pythonissam' ' Praeditus' and so many other's. What could they mean?
I qucikly went on google translate on my phone and typed in 'Lupi'. The result came up with wolves. Werewolves. I also typed in "Lamia'. Vampires. That's what Lamia was. I also found out that Pythonissam means witch and Praeditus means gifted. What the hell were the gifted. I've heard of everything else on here apart fron the gifted. What do they do? Looks like I'm going back to the book's.
The book was so old the writng was fading. It looked like the book was hundreds of years old. I read the part in english and it explained somthing about a human massacure where vampire's rampaged village's and killed thousands of people and how witches went into hiding because the werewolves were after them. There were also more stories about Shape shifters and Elementals.
I saw something about the gifted, but it was very brief. Like the person didn't have enough time to research them properly. Well it said that they weren't well known a only a few people have heard of them. They were also the first type of species to roam the earth. It said something about having a unique scent and how the Praeditus power varied. From mind reading to controlling elements.
For the next two hour's I read everything I needed to know about everything roaming around this town. So far I knew there were Vampires and Werewolves. But I haven't seen any witch's, elementals, shapeshifters or any other species that was in the book. It was like they were in hiding.
It was already 6.30 so I had to head home before it got dark . I'll just have to check the other books another time. I don't even know how to confront this situation. What, do I walk up to Blake and Hunter and tell them I know about werewolves? Do I throw silver at them?
Yes I know their werewolves. The signs are pretty obvious. Glowing eyes, getting angry quickly and acting like a wild animal. I'm not stupid. Also Sasha, I don't know about Alexis but she probably is. I had to do something to test my theories. It was a school day tomorrow so I'll test it then. I needed something made out of silver.
If the test works then my life won't be the same anymore.
