~~Rythian's POV~~
I roamed the crevice, which was dimly lit by the overhead light. Monsters spawned sometimes, but they didn't last long with my sword quickly stabbing their stomachs. I placed the odd torch in a few places, just in case night came and I was unprepared. I'd already made a temporary base down there in case I needed quick protection. Just as I was mining coal, I heard a quiet click behind me, and turned to see a bracelet. I picked it up, intruiged, and saw it was like the one currently on my wrist, but orange, not purple. I looked up, to see if I knew who it came from, but only saw silhoettes coming down the crevice wall. I pocketed the bracelet until the two guys came, and got quite a shock when I saw that the two that came down were females. Females who rang a bell in my memory, too.
"Hi." One of them said. "Have you seen my bracelet?"
"I have. But I'll only give it to you if you tell me where you got it." I crossed my arms smugly.
"I don't know! Maybe my friend does." The girl said. You could easily tell that they were strange. One had red hair with orange highlights whilst the other had blue hair with pink highlights.
The blue haired girl looked shocked. "I, er, I don't know either! We just were, kinda, born with them!" She said, finishing with a smile.
"Well, it's just that..." My mind was having a good argument. Should I tell them, or not? "I have a bracelet which is very similar. I've been told that no one has the same bracelet as me, but it's obvious that you do."
"Oh, really?" The redhead asked. "Well, my friend and I were told that ours were one of a kind! Well, two of a kind... Who told you this?"
"My parents. They said a girl visited and gave them this, and that it'll keep me safe." I shrugged.
"They said a girl gave me mine too!" The redhead squealed. The blue-haired girl looked worried.
"Really? Maybe that's linked... Where you from?" I asked, sitting on a nearby rock.
The redhead sat next to me, whilst the blue-haired girl leaned against a wall with her arms crossed. "I'm from Roccoal." She smiled.
"Really? I live just outside of there!" I said, way too enthusiastically. "So, I'm right on the edge of Blastone." I explained further.
"What's your name?" The redhead asked, leaning back and narrowly avoiding a flop on to the floor as her back touched the wall.
"Me? I am Rythian." I smiled.
The redhead gasped and looked at the other, less-enthusiastic one, who plastered a smile on to stop the redhead from looking like a loon.
"What's your's?" I replied.
"I'm Zoey. I'm pretty sure we've met before." She smirked. Even the blue-haired girl couldn't resist a little giggle.
"Well, I do remember a redhead from my high school who was called Zoey... But that surely couldn't be you? You would've grown so much!" I chuckled.
"Well, I guess I have grown a lot, then. I am the same Zoey Proasheck who went your high school. It's been so long!" Zoey grinned.
"I know! Does that make you....?" I leaned in the blue-haired girl's direction. She smiled.
"Sh- Chyna." She smiled.
"How often do you make that mistake, Chy?" Zoey giggled.
"I guess it's because I've always liked the name Shina..." She shrugged. "Anyways, Rythian, it's nice to see you again."
"You too, Chyna. We used to prank everyone together, didn't we?" Rythian asked, turning his attention back to Zoey.
"Yeah, we loved it." Zoey said, smiling. Silence overtook the conversation for a short while, as we all thought of the good times, before I said,
"Night's coming. You wanna rest with me for the night?"
"Sure." Chyna shrugged.
"That'll be cool, but I would love my bracelet back." Zoey said, sarcasm glinting from her voice.
"Of course, Zoey." I smiled, standing up and rummaging in my pocket. I got her bracelet and chucked it to her. "There you go. Now, follow me."
Zoey and Chyna followed me to my base, and I made makeshift beds for them both.
"So, how have you been?" Chyna asked, attempting to relax.
"Not too bad. I guess things could've been worse." I shrugged. "Some bad stuff happened a few years back, but that's in the past."
"Right." Chyna nodded.
"Would you want to share it with us...?" Zoey asked hesitantly.
"Er... I guess so..." I said awkwardly, sliding to the edge of my bed. "Basically, my parents had an accident..."
I was helping my Father in the garage, when Mother called him in to help with dinner. I was left to fix this vehicle, I can't remember which one, on my own. I heard shouting. I heard an explosion. My eyes widened and I quickly ran to the kitchen, to find my parents' bloodied corpses, and fire, smoke... It was terrible. I extinguished the fire as quickly as possible, and looked at my parents. They were reaching out to each other. They were trying to hold each other's hands in their final moments. I went over to my Father and pushed him in my Mother's direction, and then went over to my Mother and did the same. They held hands and whispered things to each other.
I only picked a few different phrases: "I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault."
"But it is."
"*Inaudible*"
"Always the joker." My Father smiled.
"That's why you married me." My Mother finished.
They chuckled as lightly as possible. Silence took it's toll.
"I love you." My Father said, before closing his eyes. His chest stopped. I knew he was gone.
"Son." Mother said quietly. I came over to her.
"Yeah?"
"The food's burning."
"Mother, the food's exploded."
"No, look." She pointed up to the oven, which was still working.
"Well... How did the explosion happen?"
"...I love you, Rythian... I'm with your Father now..." Were the last words to come from my Mother.
I watched as Zoey's eyes freed a few tears and Chyna played with her bracelet, trying to get the story out of her head.
"Sorry about the downer." I said.
"No, it's fine." Zoey shook her head. "I'm happy you told us."
"Well," I sighed, "I have no one else to tell..."
