"It was awkward at times, but overall, it was okay." I say to Chloe as I lay down on my back on my towel and close my eyes.
"Sorry, I should've stayed with you." Close says as she sits up, and glances out at the ocean.
"No it's fine." I give her a smile. "So tell me what happened with you and Austin."
"We just.... Talked."
"Just talked? Nothing else?"
"No not really, he seemed to be more worried about you guys not being on the bus."
"Oh." I laugh. "Tell me that's not what you guys talked about for the whole time right?"
"No, we talked about other stuff. Just random stuff." Chlo says and I nod. I'm surprised she doesn't seem as excited about it as much as I thought she would be. Normally after she spends time with Austin she goes on and on about what they did even if they were just little things.
"Oh yeah, nice." I say. "Do you know what the boys are up to today?"
"I think they're just staying home, they said that they were thinking of the going to the club later. Should we go?"
"Sure." I shrug.
"And you can wear that really hot dress! You look so hot in that dress. The boys would drool."
"Thanks, Chlo." I laugh a little. "And you can wear that really cute white dress that I made you buy."
"That's exactly what I was gonna wear!" She giggles. "Should we go get ready then? I'm pretty sure the boys are already home."
"Yeah, we probably should." I say as I get up, picking up my towel.
"Are you gonna leave your hair straight?" Chloe asks as we start to walk to the car that we had rented while we were here in California. We're planning to stay for a week.
"Yeah. Are you gonna leave your hair... Wavy?" We both laugh a little. Chloe has wavy light brown hair, and I have straight blonde hair.
"Yeah. Might as well."

"Hey ladies." A random guy comes up to us.
"Hey." I say at the same time as Chloe says.
"Hey sexy."
"Sorry, dude. But these girls are taken." Austin says to the guy.
"They don't look taken to me." The guy says.
"Well I'm telling you now, they are."
"Whatever, there's way better girls out there anyway." The guy says and walks off.
"Austin! What the hell was that for?" Chloe says.
"Was it just me that thought he looked like a creep?"
"Austin, he was hot." Chloe rolls her eyes.
"Not to me." Austin says bluntly.
"Well it's none of your business anyway." Chloe says to him.
"Lee? What have you got to say?"
"Nothing. He wasn't my type anyway." I laugh.
"Glad to see someone's on the same page as me." Austin smiles at me and I smile a little back.
"Yeah but she didn't say that he looked like a creep did she?" Chloe argues.
"Same thing, she might've just wanted to put it in a nicer way."
"Sure, whatever. Let's go get some drinks, Lee."
"Sure." I say.
"Hey what about me?"
"What about you?" Chloe says and I laugh. "I'm just gonna let lose tonight." Chloe whispers to me.
"There's a lot of hot girls here." I say, quoting him from the airplane ride.
"Yeah yeah, but not as hot as you two girls." He smirks as I give him a look of surprise that he just said that out loud. He's really not the type of guy to say things like that. I try to recover quickly.
"Whatever floats your boat." I roll my eyes. We all just stand there awkwardly, not knowing what to say next. "Okay you know what, I'm gonna go and get some drinks for us." I say and lean close to Chloe and whisper, "you're welcome." She gives me a small smile. "See ya guys." I say and walk away from them, towards the drinks. When I reach the stand, I grab a cup and pour myself some liquor of some kind and drink. The liquid goes down my throat as a sour burnt taste, but soon starts to actually taste good. I take another sip, one hand on the table. Suddenly, I feel a hand on my back, and I look up to see a cute blonde guy.
"Hey." He slurs.
"Hey." I say back.
"Your name?"
"Leeeeeeah." I say, dragging the 'ee' should out.
"Hot name." He says, and grins a cute grin.
"And yours?" I say and he looks like he hesitates for a moment but soon covers it up with a smile and says,
"Lucas."
"Ooh! We both have names that start with an L! We would make such a cute couple!" I say as I look at his lips. Before I know it, he leans in and I find myself kissing him. He's a really really good kisser.
"Woah woah woah." Someone says and we pull away.
"Maddox?" I say in surprise.
"Hey, man. This is my girlfriend. Leave her alone." Maddox says, putting an arm around my waist and Lucas shrugs and leans in towards me again and tries to kiss me. "Hey. I said her alone." Maddox says and pushes Lucas away.
"Well it just looked like she just cheated on you." Lucas says and gives me a wink and walks away.
"What are you doing?" I say to Maddox when Lucas walks away.
"Uh, protecting you?" He says as if it was obvious.
"Uh, why?" I say in the same tone as him, pulling away from him.
"Maybe because I just saw him making out with another girl like ten minutes ago?"
"Oh really." I say sarcastically. "Look, Maddox. I don't need protecting. And since when did you become my boyfriend?"
"Since just then." He says which makes me freeze, not expecting that answer at all. With that, he walks away.
