A New Beginning [Miraculous Ladybug AU]

Chapter 1

This is from Adrien's/Chat Noir's point of view.

Whilst i was waiting on top of the Eiffel Tower, I kept thinking about who Ladybug really is, because no matter who she was under that mask, I knew she was just as amazing. Then I thought about my trip to Germany for my studies. That would mean I won't be able to meet her again for the next four years, or at least until I get back to Paris.

The burden on my shoulders was unsettling. The thought of leaving Ladybug alone to fight evil, was enough to make me sick to the whisker.

"What's the matter chaton? You don't seem very happy today...something bothering you?"

I turned my head around and saw her. She was blinding, as she always was.

"Nothing m'lady, just thinking of some things. Shall we?"

"Yeah, let's go"

She then used her yoyo and started to swing down the Eiffel tower. I extended my stick and started to follow behind her as we patrolled around the city for one last time.

When we were done, we sat on top of the Champs-Elysees, and then I thought that it would be the best time to try and tell her.

"Ladybug..."

"Yes chat?"

"I need to tell you something...I'm leaving for Germany tomorrow, I need to continue my studies. So I wanted you to kn-"

Ladybug laughed.

"What's the matter m'lady?"

"It's funny that I'm also leaving tomorrow. I'm going to the States to learn about fashion modeling."

"So this is goodbye?"

"Of course not you silly cat. We would still meet each other again, like when we get back to Paris, goodbye's are not forever you know, so don't think of it as a goodbye, think of it as a.. See you later!"

"Well, in that case, I was thinking, maybe we should tell each other who we really are, now that Hawkmoth is defeated, what harm could it be?"

"You're right, b-but, but..."

Then ladybug started to cry. Her sniffles pierced through my heart like a knife in the wound.

"M'lady, are you okay? I didn't mean to hurt you or anyth-"

"I'm fine chat. It's just, I can't, I'm sorry."

As she swung away from sight, I began to question myself. Why didn't she want to reveal herself? Is it because she thinks I might be disappointed of whom she really is? Tears started to roll down my cheeks as I make my way back home.

After I removed my transformations, I asked Plagg if Ladybug seemed odd. He only said that she might think that I would be disappointed on who she really is, because he knows who Ladybug is.

"What? You knew all this time? Why didn't you tell me?"

"I can't,"

"What do you mean you can't?"

"The magic that gives you your powers also restricts us from telling a kwami holder's identity to another kwami holder, so I can't tell you unless you discover it yourself."

I sighed. The one chance I had on finding out who Ladybug is had to be smashed to smithereens because of magic. I gave Plagg some cheese and I tried to sleep, although my eyes couldn't seem to close and that my mind was still deep in thought of why Ladybug was so sad earlier tonight.

In the end I forced myself to close my eyes and cleared my mind. And finally, my body let me have my sleep.

The next day, I waited in the balcony of my room for her, thinking that she might stop by before she left. Instead, she never came, and I had to catch a flight later in the afternoon.

At the airport, just as I finished buying my ticket, I spotted Marinette buying a ticket as well. I still had a few hours before boarding time so I decided to approach her.

"Hey Marinette, how's things?"

"Adrien, hi. Fancy seeing you here too,"

That was also another change, Marinette had stopped stuttering each time we met or talked with each other. When she got really nervous or shocked she would stutter abit, but other than those times she wouldn't. I guess she already feels comfortable around me nowadays.

"Want to go get some coffee?"

"That'd be great, let's go"

We looked around for a café, and in the end we went to Starbucks. When we got our orders we started to walk towards the immigration queue. I asked her where she was headed, and she said that she was headed to the states, to continue her fashion designing dreams. I wished her luck and told her I was headed for Germany. She asked why, and I told her that I was going to learn further chemical engineering. We kept talking until the time came for her to board her aircraft.

Ever since those two days, I have never seen Marinette or Ladybug again.

Days turn into weeks, weeks turned into months, and months turned into years. All those years in Germany, I had never transformed into Chat Noir. It's almost as if my alter ego had never even existed. I finished my chemical engineering degree a year before everyone else in my class did and I headed home. The day I arrived, my father waited for me at the airport. After all these time, he finally always finds the time to spend with me. The two of us went home and we had quick dinner. After my father and I finished talking about what had happened in Germany, I went back to my room. Not a single thing has changed. Everything was left just the way it is when I left it. My father also told me that he had remarried, with Natalie. It came to me as shocking news, but still, I'm just glad that have a chance to become a happy family once again. I'm sure my mom would have approved of it as well.

I waited until it was late enough for both my dad and my new mom to be asleep, and quietly I called Plagg.

"It's time, let's go,"

"Finally, it's been too long"

"Plagg, Claws Out!"

I felt the wind brushing through my hair as I circled around the city. I've missed this. It just felt good to be back. I went to the top of the Eiffel Tower. I saw the whole city from bird's eye view. Paris was always beautiful, no matter how much time has gone by.

I start to make my way back home and then I saw a glimpse of red and black. I tried to focus myself on what had just gone across me and I saw it. A red spandex suit with black spots. Then I heard the sounds of a yoyo.

"Ladybug?"
