Darkness Ahead

Chapter 4: Failure

Yes. Finally I wrote a new chapter :) Sorry bout the long wait guys but I am writing yet again and I will try to write a new chapter every week but it may take longer since I am very busy with college applications and my programs. But I will try. :D

A gasp escaped Damien's lips and he fought back the urge to recoil from Jade. Of course he had been to late. What had he been thinking that his kiss had brought back his Jade. No. He had failed her. Failed so utterly and completely. Jade was a monster because of him. New tears welled up in his eyes as he stared at Jade's new electric blue eyes, he failed.

"Damien." Jade's voice was raspy from the screaming, and she looked at him a smile spreading across her face.

"You didn't save me." Jade smile grew, and she started to pull away from Damien, but he held her. For the time being Jade was extremely weak since she had just been changed. It was now or never. Damien's grip on the light dagger grew firmer and he raised it above Jade's heart. Jade tried to weakly get out of Damien's grasp to get away from the dagger, 'not his Jade anymore' Damien had to remind himself. The new Jade's eyes opened wide and she looked into Damien's eyes.

"Don't please. Damien. If you love me stop. I want to live." Jade's soft and beautiful voice filled his ears. The tears started to spill once more, he hated the fact that he failed. Hated himself for not being there soon enough.

"Jade I am doing this for you. I can't let you be a monster." Damien said and Jade's eyes filled with a rage he had never seen in her before. Her face shifted, becoming twisted. Her electric eyes become black coals that burned with hatred. Her teeth sharpened as the snarled at Damien, he nearly recoiled in shock. But Damien was actually grateful, it would be easier to kill her when she looked like the monsters he had killed countless times before.

"Sorry." Damien said and brought the dagger down on Jade's heart and was suddenly pulled away from Jade, dropping the dagger, startled. He could hear Jade's gasp in relief. Damien turned facing his attacker, a lizard demon. Damien grounded his teeth, every second he couldn't stop Jade was a second she grew stronger. 'At least it was only one demon.' Damien thought pulling out a small blade, his sword was somewhere in the valley. He had dropped it when he had ran towards Jade's unmoving body an hour ago.

Damien ran towards the demon, a quick kill has all he needed. It was almost to easy to dispatch the one demon and in less than 40 seconds of fighting Damien was triumphant. When to his utter horror, 20 more demons poured out of the surrounding woods. All of them growling and snarling.

"F***!" Damien cursed under his breathe. It would be nearly impossible for him to kill all these demons plus take Jade out of her misery in time. In fact it would be nearly impossible to survive when the odds were this high against him.

In unison all the demons charged him and he felt defenceless as he swiveled his tiny short sword around. The demons all circled around him, enjoying the fact that they overpowered him so completely. A demon lunged and Damien reacted swiftly, bringing his sword down and cutting into its neck. Soon all the demons were attacking him and Damien moved in a blur. Slashing, stabbing and swiping at anything coming his way. In less than a minute he was covered head to toe in burning black demon's blood. He fought more violently then he ever had in his entire life but the more demons he killed the more that came out from the woods.

Two demons attacked Damien from behind as he was stabbing another through the heart, he sensed them and trying to block moved out of the way. But another demon grabbed at him, its sharp long nails cutting into his stomach. Damien cried out, his blood mixing with the demon's blood that soaked his clothes. Another demon slashed at his arm, cutting deeply into his fighting arm. He screamed, dropping his only weapon as pain rolled over him.

The other demons seeing him disarmed cackled, one even punching Damien hard in his face. He spun, as another demon clawed at his back, bringing another cry from Damien's lips. 'I am going to die.' Damien thought vaguely, and he was okay with it. At least he wouldn't have to deal with his failure. 

Another demon kicked Damien hard in the gut, making him gasp for air and fall to his knees. It was then, in all of his despair that he felt a sudden heat fill him. A heat so intense he could barely feel any pain from his wounds. He gasped, seeing light seeping through his skin. Almost as if he was transparent and light was underneath his skin and clothes. The heat grew as did the light inside of him and Damien started to scream. 

He couldn't stand to take the heat anymore, he felt as if he was being boiled alive. The light shining in him was blinding and Damien forced his eyes closed, it was like he was a mini sun. Then when he felt he could not bare anymore heat, it pulsed out of him in a blast. The light shot out of him in such a bright glare that it blinded Damien temporarily even with his eyes closed. 

With the heat gone, silence and darkness surrounded him and he collapsed to the floor. All his energy was sapped completely and he was left utterly exhausted. Unconsciousness swept him away to blissful nothingness. 

OH! Crazy stuff! Anyways Damien failed and Jade is a mosnter and basically Damien exploded with some crazy light. Yes very intresting stuff just went down :D Just letting you all know if there is any mistakes or the writing isn't exactly amazing, I am just trying to write out my ideas right now. So there will be mistakes and parts that are choppy but I am just going to try writing till i finish and then reedit. Hope you liked it and things get crazy :) Also I am making my chapters shorter from now on because otherwise it takes me way longer, espically if my normal chapters involve me making 2 parts that normal have 12-14 pages.
