Chapter 19: Gauno

Party Poison POV:
I wake up with her in my arms. I smile down at her as she sleeps. That's a creepy sentence, but I don't care. I watched her.
Then I hear a squeaky voice say,"eew, what are you guys doing?"
Missile Kid's curly hair is seen by the door, and a look of disgust was in her face. I put a finger to lips and made a hand motion to shoo her out. She looked disappointed, but she did.
I chuckle and look to see Toxic Kitten with her eyes staring back into mine.
I then ask her a question I never really thought of asking her before,"What was life like for you? Before the fires."
She smiles and closes her eyes,"I lived in the outskirts of Battery City. Country side, with a lot of green, farm animals. I remember the sunsets always being beautiful, and I would watch with my sister, the sky turn from blue to orange, pink, and grey go to black with a galaxy of stars above." She pauses and looks at me. I imagine it all, it must have been gorgeous.
"It was just me and my mom and my little sister. Her name was Carter. My mom's was Violet. I never met my dad. Things were normal. I had what you would call call an 'emo phase' but my family accepted it. We All did what we want, and my mother and I would jam out to the Pixies on weekends and watch Ghost Adventures. She was my best friend." She started to frown.... This isn't gonna end well.
"I remember seeing Cho on the news. She's the one who started  naming the zones, saying it can be used for prison sites or something like that. I remember BLi getting bigger, and the pills...a lot of people started taking them, the rules chaning bout clothes. my mom knew something was up, and she forbid them. I remember, my mom giving me money to buy a new book. Carter wanted to come with me. I said no, I don't want her bugging me with my friends while I was out.
I walked into town....and then the bombs started... It was in the direction of where I lived.
There were so many fires... Some old couple pulled me into their home so I can be safe. But all I wanted was to see my family. After two days..."
She seemed to be distant. Its like she's reliving it all.
"I ran back home. But there was no home. They burned it to the ground. I looked for any sign of then and all I found were bones, Poison...." Toxic started sobbing into my shoulder.
"Its my fault. If I had let her come, she wouldn't be dead. I'd still have at least one person. I FOUND THEM DEAD!"
She started screaming and crying.
"Shh. You have me. Its okay." I say holding her tight and kissing her forehead.
She hiccups and continues her story,"these men in scary mask. Men we know as Dracs. They were there, and they tried to hold me captive. I don't know why, but I ran into the city and lived under a bridge for months, then I heard about the killjoys, and the famous Party Poison. I found my group a few months after the rebellion started, but until then, in was living off of grass and fish until I had the guts escape into the zones. The rest is history." She finishes.
She was still crying a little bit, but I still held her.
"You have any thing left of them."
She pulls put a picture. She must have been fourteen, her sister looked about right, and her mother looked like an older version of Toxic.
I smile at her and kiss her,"they would have been proud. And don't worry. They are with the Phoenix Witch. She takes the souls that are lost and takes them somewhere better."
Toxic just snuggles into me. Her eyes are red from crying. I don't even know what happened to my family. They lived in New Jersey at the time, so who knows what happened there.
"Let's go get some food. " I say quietly. She nods and follows me in the kitchen, where the guys give us an anxious look. There's no doubt they heard her sobbing.
Missile Kid just gives her a hug and whispers something in her ear that made Toxic smile.
I pull Kobra aside,"Keep Toxic company. I'll be back soon."
"Wait, what happened to her?" He asked with concerned.
"The past. We are making a trip to the witch" Is all I say
I hop into the Trans AM and bolt down Route Gauno. The only way the witch will guide souls is if there is something to offer.

I cut off the flowers off of cactuses in the desert and put them in the shape of a little heart. I then grab my sketchpad from the glove box and draw Toxic's mom and sister from memory.
I smile at my work and head back to the diner.
I show Toxic the arrangement I made. She looked at me, speechless.
"Write a message on the blank part of the paper " I say
She slooks co fused, but she did it anyways.
She writes I love you and I miss you. Rest in peace. Love, (Y/N)
She looks up at me,"what is this for?"
"You have to have something to offer" is all I say
"It's beautiful. Thank you so much. " she says.
I see Missile Kid making a card that is meant for her mom. Kobra must have told her that we were visiting.
We all got into the car and I drive us all to Route Gauno, which is where the closest offering box is.
Toxic sheds a few tears and places the arrangement into the box, and so does Missile Kid.
Ghoul light a fire and we all sit there. Honoring the dead, and the Phoenix Witch.
Toxic stands by me and pulls me aside.
"I can't thank you enough for what you did. You are amazing "
"Don't mention it, babe."
She looks confused,"babe?"
I smirk at her. And she laughs.
"Please don't."
"Fine, then how about," I bite my lip and wink,"sexy mama."
A look of disgust appears on her face.
"Just shut the hell up." She says as she grabs me by the hair and pulls me into a kiss.
It was slow at first, then she placed her arms around my neck and my hands found their way to her waist. The kiss deepened and grew more passionate. We honestly forgot that the guys were there until we heard cat whistles.
"GET SOME!" Ghoul shouts as Jet groans and yells,"get a room."
Kobra just gives me a thumbs up.
Toxic and I both laugh.
I look back to her and twirl my fingers in her blue hair,"maybe we should wait until we get a room." I smirk.
Her eyes just widened and I chuckled.

Little does she know that I am serious.
