Taking care of his head injury... (969 words)

---

"Ooh, that's not going to be a good feeling in the morning for Kasperi Kapanen!" I heard one of the commentators' voice as it was projected across the speakers in the Ricoh Coliseum. My head immediately turned around to face the ice and saw Kasperi getting cussed at by one of the players for the Hershey Bears. He had ignored the slur and kept his focus on getting down to the locker room. I got my stuff ready and bid goodbyes to my friends before I headed out the door to go down to the locker rooms.

Once I had got down to the locker room, I had noticed that Kasperi looked a little bit disorientated and nauseous, which made me doubt that he had some sort of concussion. Quietly, I tiptoed into the room, which Kasperi looked up at me when I stood beside him and looked down at him.

"Hey..." I spoke softly to him as I played with his dirty-blond hair.

"Hi..." He groggily answered back to me as the medics were continuing to assess him.

"How are you feeling?" I asked him in a gentle tone as I felt tears well up in my eyes, but luckily, they didn't fall down to my cheeks like a waterfall.

"Honestly," Kasperi mumbled as he shut his eyes, "I just want to go home, I don't feel the best." As soon as those words came out of Kasperi's mouth, I heard one of the medics clear their throat to get our attention.

"Y/N, may I please speak with you out in the hallway, please?" I nodded my head and followed the medic out of the locker room and out into the hallway.

"The medics and I have discussed Kasperi's injury that he had recently suffered a few moments ago and we believe that he has suffered some sort of a concussion. For now, I would just take him home and get him well-rested for the night. Then tomorrow, I'd take him to the doctor's and get him checked out. And keep us updated too about his condition." The medic spoke to me and I paid attention to what they were saying.

I nodded my head very carefully and thanked them for their gratitude. Following the medic back to the locker room, I saw Kasperi all dressed up in his casual clothes and ready to go home.

"Are you ready to go home, Kappy?" I looked at him and he had nodded his head slowly, not wanting to make his condition worse. Walking over to where he stood, I wrapped one of my arms around his shoulders and he wrapped one of his around my shoulders. From there, I slowly and carefully guided him out of the arena and into the car.

"How are you feeling now, honey?" I asked Kasperi as I laid a cold and wet cloth over his forehead and spread the blanket over him.

"Somewhat better, but I am definitely going to the doctor's tomorrow!" Kasperi groaned in pain and a frown came upon my face.

"I just hate to see you in pain like this, Kasperi..." I mumbled as I rubbed circles on his cheek with my thumb. He took the hand in his hand and brought it up to his mouth and softly kissed them.

"I know, Y/N...." Kasperi avoided eye contact due to his eyes tearing up, but eventually, he looked up at  me. "But, you're such a strong person and I just want to thank you for taking care of me so much, Y/N," I smiled softly at him as I pressed my lips on top of his and kissed them gently before I heard the doorbell ring. A look of confusion was written on my face as I walked up to the door and when I opened the door, I saw Will Nylander, Tobias Lindberg, Connor Brown, and Brendan Leipsic all standing at the other side.

"Hi! Are you guys here to see Kasperi?" I whispered to them, not wanting to make his head hurt any more than it already was. They all nodded their heads, making me get out of the way to make room for them to enter the house.

"How's he doing?" Tobias spoke up quietly as he looked up at me for an answer. I urged them to follow me to the living room, where Kasperi was and told them not to make much noise. Quietly and carefully, the four hockey players plus I walked into the living room, where we saw Kasperi look up at us in surprise.

"What are you guys doing here? I thought the game wasn't over for another ten minutes..." Kasperi looked up at his friends in a confused manner. The boys shrugged their shoulders and looked back down at Kasperi with looks of sincerity on their faces.

"We just wanted to visit you and check up on you for a while... Coach allowed us to leave to see you. And the Marlies are also looking into the situation about the hit and slur..." Will spoke quietly as he crossed his arms in anger at what happened at the game. "You didn't deserve that to happen to you, Kappy..."

"I know, Will..." Kasperi sighed at his friend's response, "but there's nothing I could do about it."

Brendan and Connor held out a bag they were hiding behind their backs. I looked inside the bag to check the contents of the bag. And inside it was a couple of board games....

"Do you guys want to play Monopoly or the Game of Life?" Brendan and Connor asked us as they held the two board games out in their arms.
