Chapter Three: Adventures with Mr. Dino
TATUM
"Tatum, I can't believe this."
I looked past mom's dissapointed eyes. All his fault. All his fault. All his fault.
"Out of all the places in the world, you choose to watch a street fight in the middle of the night?!" Her screeching was probably heard by the neighbors. "And then get arrested?!"
She turned her head fast to set her gaze upon Travis. "And you, young man. What were you doing out of the house?"
Travis looked down. "Um...getting icecream downtown like the good little child Tatum isn't?" It came out more like a question. Did he just really throw me under the bus?
Mom crossed her arms, while narrowing her eyes. "Errr!" She made the sound of a game show buzzer. "Wrong answer!" Travis's face paled. "No football. When school ends, you come straight home."
"Mom, you can't do that! You know we have a huge game in two weeks against Westlake!"
She tapped her foot. "Westlake my ass! Watch me."
Travis bounded upstairs, makig sure to slam his door in the process.
I tried to slip past her and reunite with my pet dino. "Not so fast, Tatum Anne."
I fliched at the sound of my middle name and turned around. "Yes."
"Did you have anything to do with the fight?"
Did I? "No."
"Good. I would ground you, but you come home straight after school anyways so..." Mom trailed off.
"Well If that's all..." I picked up my pace and slipped up the stairs to my bedroom AKA my safe haven.
Everything was in it's place. The cream curtians were closed, Mr.Dino was perched against the giant powder pink pillows that sat on top of my bed and a plush white rug floated in the middle of the hardwood floor.
I scanned the room. Everything was in place except for...my laptop! I hurried downstairs, almost tripping in the process.
"Mom!" I shouted, my voice filled with devastation. "Where is my laptop?!"
She came around the corner holding a basket full of clean linen. "I have it." She stated simply.
"W-why?! You know I have to blog!"
"Well Travis brought up a good point. Since I can't ground you the same way as him, I have to ground you differently."
"Sorry hun."
I groaned. At least I still have Mr. Dino.
"Oh, and Tatum?" She popped her head back around the corner. "As a part of your punishment, I'm also taking away Mr. Dino."
Spoke too soon...
GRAYSON
That girl. What's her name? Adam? Matum? Eh, close enough. She should've stayed home, away from this side of town, but I bet her bastard of a twin brother made her come out. Travis. He's not one of them, but he's sure damn close.
I shook my head in disgust and finished wrapping my hands up in bandages. I will admit, Antonio Rodriguez packed a pretty good punch, but I packed it harder. Way harder. Let's just say he won't ever be coming back to fight me.
I lightly chuckled, thinking about how he resembled a dog with it's tail tucked under him. Classic!
Shrugging on my gray hoodie, I walked out from the ally and into the semi-empty streets. It was about two in the morning, and everything was almost silent...except a short girl, holding what looked to be a...stuffed animal, cursing at the sky.
I squinted my eyes. Is that Matum? Or is it Adam? It doesn't even matter. I thought I told her to stay out of here?! My eyes suddenly widened.
No, it wasn't because of the girl with a sailors mouth holding a childrens play toy. No, it wasn't because of the rain that just happened to decide that it wanted to pour on me at this exact moment. Nope, it was because of a black car with the tinted windows that Im sure was filled to the rim with them, headed straight towards Adam...or was it Matum?
TATUM
She thought that she could seperate me from Mr. Dino? We'll she was wrong!
I pondered over this conclusion as I swung one foot over the window sill, and then leapt down into the front yard.
I looked down at my dino and checked for any scratches. I let out a breath of relief and continued down the sidewalk, looking for a working WiFi and computer. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and I stared up at the sky and tried to walk a little faster.
This time, thunder rolled across the sky even louder, and the sky opened up and let out rain.
I clutched Dino. "Are you fudging kidding me right now?!" I yelled to no one in particular. The sky didn't seem to like my complaining, so he told Mr. Lightning and Mr. Wind to come out and play. "Sky, don't you fudge with me! I'm not the one! You better take you rain, lightning and wind back where you came from. You little-"
Someone in the distance shouted for *Matum* to move. "Who the fudging hell is Matum?" I squinted through the rain. Is that Grayson? My clothing and hair was soaked, not to mention Mr. Dino too.
He gestured to something behind me with wide eyes. I turned aroud almost face to face with a black car. And I would've became one with it, if it hadn't been for a pair of hands pushing me out of the way.
The car zoomed away into the night. Holy shizzle!
Grayson moaned, his eyes closed. Oh my god! I killed him! I gently shook him, trying not to notice how his shirt rode up the slightest or how his arms flexed from years of fighting. "Grayson!" I whispered, while shaking his shoulders. "Grayson!" My voice wavered. He's going to die and then his rich ass family's going to sue me, and then-
"What?" Grayson rasped out.
My head whipped around. "You're alive!" I wrapped my arms around his waist, as he tried to pry me off.
"Get off!" He yelled.
I regained my composer and stood up. "We'll if that is all, I think I'll be going." I gathered Mr. Dino into my arms, prepared to leave, but once again in my plans of escape, Grayson always has to stop me.
"You're not going anywhere." His eyes darkened. "Especially right after you almost got ran over by them!" He hissed.
My eyebrows furrowed. "Whose them?"
His face blanked. "No one. It doesn't even matter."
I studied his chisled face. "Fine then." He stood up and ushered me forward. "Where are we going?"
He abruptly stopped and smirked. "To the loner who beats up old lady's lair."
My face paled, and he patted my head. "Don't worry Matum, I don't bite. At least not yet."
I looked down at Mr. Dino: crumpled and soaked with dirty rain water. This is going to be one heck of an adventure.
A/N: Boom, you got a chapter. Do you like it? I don't know you tell me! VOMMENT and FAN!
