Protecting Daniel

Chapter 15

Ross' POV

AFter a bit, I heard a car pull in the driveway and I headed down with a crying Daniel to meet her at the door. She knocked and I let her in. She immediately handed him Abba and took him from me.

"Sorry it took so long, traffic," she smiled, as Daniel snuggled into her, "Let me help." then she headed up to my room to help me get him down for his nap, getting on her phone and putting on "Repeating Days" Between that on low and Abba he seemed to slowly begin to drift to sleep.

"Thanks babe," I said it just slipped out of my mouth," uh. I mean Jeny," I corrected. I wasn't actually sorry and I missed her a lot.

"Oh, um, yeah it's okay" she said, turning to face me and smiled, "That song works every time I um used to listen to it alot. thinking maybe you had written that for me."

"It fits us doesn't it," I said softly. It was amazing it put Daniel to sleep.

It was one of my favorite songs, we hadn't performed it live in awhile.

"It does I mean, it used to but the end guitar part always makes him smile in his sleep." she blushed, "But um none of that applies to us anymore ya know. I should um, go."

I felt like it was still us, I just didn't say so is all.

"Alright, thanks for coming to the rescue," I said.

"No problem, anytime. you ever need, anything, you let me know," she smiled, gently gripping my arm, then heading down to her car. My arm almost burned a bit where she'd touched me. It was like a shock to my system. I stopped being angry a long time ago. and all I wanted now, was to fix us. I wanted my girl back. I had to figure out how to get her back. She was always happy with me. I missed those moments a lot. I walked to the door to smile and watch her leave, waving politely, and then heading back inside.

"I love you J, I'm gonna fix this," I whispered aloud, before heading up to smile at my beautiful boy, now fast asleep.

Minnie's POV

Rydel and I were looking at a baby catalog.we were in the living room.

"I love all the girl stuff in here," I said seeing all the Ruffles and lace. Such cute onesies and bows and headbands.

"Look at these tiny Mary Jane shoes!" Rydel squealed.

"Oh I know, it's gonna be adorable," I smiled. It had been a couple months now, Ross was really well I dunno, he seemed, really happy, Rydel was starting to show, and we were still remodeling and designing the house. we had the place but we were in no hurry. we didn't want to move too quickly. I was almost tempted to ask Rydel and Ellington to come stay with us till the baby was born so we could get the house organized.

The house had a few extra rooms on the upstairs not counting the nursery. I'd have to talk to Riker about it.

"I want it to be a girl, have you guys talked names?" Rydel asked.

"We have the girls name is chosen, the boy's we're still debating, but its secret for now," I said.

"Darn," Rydel said," well I'm looking forward to finding out."

"I promise, everyone will love them," I said, 'So whats up with Ross? he seems, well weird like his old self."

"I know, it's weird, but he's been texting alot and seems way too happy." she said, "I was gonna ask you the same thing"

"He hasn't mentioned anything to me," I replied.

"Think Courtney took him back?" She asked.

"no, this smile is different but strangely familiar," I said, shaking me head.
