Welcome to the twenty first Century.

Today, I was listening as a friend of mine sashayed down the isle of the bus, which was at long lost neither as crowded nor as hot as to drown us poor students in our collective sweat. When he paused and sat down, I overheard a popular girl in the back comment in the most attention-drawing voice she could manage, inquiring on what he was carrying. Now, I never knew this girl personally; merely, bits and clips of “firsthand witnesses,” as they spoke of supposedly committed, “heinous, callous acts of stupidity and attempted misplacing of blame.”  But, me being the kind, forgiving person I am, I decided to turn a blind eye to the rumors and reserve judgment on the two-faced girl who had, if I recall correctly, just initiated a chewing-out with an accusation of unveiled distain and contempt.

Oh, my poor confused friend. You would do best to withdraw your query now before it’s too late… after all; I would hate to be a witness to another of your own supposed of public humiliations. Though, from what I’ve observed, you might like the attention a little too much.

“What is that?”Her voice was audaciously disrespectful, as if she were a coxcomb (J) with no comprehension of her own failures, morally or otherwise.

This is right about the time when my dear, amused friend decides to play an innocent, wonderingly replying with a subtle dissing tone, “What, this?” He tries to hide a smile, adding with a chuckle, “This is fruit. An apple, if you wish.” Left unspoken but visible to me like a ghostly visitation, was his unvoiced thought; Not like you’ve ever seen food that required some effort to prepare, other than when you mom bribes you with the newest fashion to eat a few precious, expensive bites.

The girl rewarded his telling-off with a dubious look of disdain and poorly disguised confusion before turning around and ignoring him completely for the rest of the bus ride.

Need I say it, but… my judgment for the girl has been temporarily downgraded.
