Chapter 14. Can my day get any worse? Oh yes, it can

"G-Gene?! You're dead!" I shout.
He chuckles, "well, I'm not princess. I'm surprised they even lied to you..." He trails off.
I give him a cold, hard stare, "What do you mean? Who lied?"
"Your mom. She didn't want you to the cooped up on that tired little farm. So, she came up with a plan. She said that I died and Dante needed someone to pay the rent. The rent part is true, he did need someone. But I just moved in with my friend Zenix-"
I cut him off by slapping him right across the face. The sound echoes around the gym, "WHAT THE HECK GENE! WE ARE NOT DONE TALKING ABOUT THIS!"
I run out of the gym and into the girls bathroom. I pull out my phone and dial my mom.
"Hey sweetie-"
"Talk,"
"What do you mean?" She sounded nervous.
"Give me. The dang. TRUTH!"
She sighed, "you saw Gene, didn't you?"
"HE ISNT DEAD! YOU LIED TO ME!"
"Honey, please calm down. I was doing it for your own good,"
I mimic her voice in an annoying tone, "'it was for your own good' MOM! YOU- ARGH!" I hang up on her. I fell the floor, crying. I lean my back up against the wall, unsure of what to do. A soft knock came from the outside door.
"Hey,"
"Go away Dante,"
"So you learned the truth, eh?"
I stood straight up and opened the door. "You know too?!"
"Don't be pointing fingers at me. I didn't want to do this plan-"
"PLAN?!"
"I- eh- I mean-"
"GO AWAY! YOU AREN'T MY BROTHER!"
"Cora, Cora please listen to me,"
I slam the door in his face. I pull out my phone to see multiple texts.
Garroth- I can't believe you slapped Gene

Laurence- is everything ok? Where are you? :(

Cadenza- you can come to my house tonight if you don't want to see Dante.

Aaron- Cora, it'll be ok. I promise

Kawaii chan- I know you just went through something... But kawaii chan needed to show you something Cora-Sama probably won't like
She sent me a picture. It's Allie. She has her arms around Aaron's neck and smiling. Aaron only smiles uncomfortably. I think. I put down my phone and sat there in complete silence

So I did end up going to cadenza. She let me cry on her bed for hours. She just handed me a tub of Coffee ice cream and a box of tissues. We watched some movies together. Laurence tried to come in but cadenza locked him out. I had to smile at that. Later, when Laurence was asleep, we took out a sharpie and drew on his face. I couldn't help myself. Earlier he said he hated the Titanic. So I drew a sinking ship on his cheek. Cadenza drew a third eye on his forehead. We just doodled on him until we got bored. It's always great with Cadenza. She makes you forget your worries. It certainly helped me, but when the night came to an end, I looked at my phone. Big mistake.

Mom- Cora please just listen
Dante- Cora where are you? Cadenza's?
Mom- honey it was for the best. I didn't want you to get hurt
Dante- you're my little sister. Please Cora.

"Please Cora"

I know you guys love me. Yep, I did that. But you don't know what WILL happen soon! Hehehe >:)
