Next day Sarah woke up and found it was late in the morning and nobody had bothered to wake her up. As she dressed herself and brushed her teeth and got ready to go downstairs, she remembered the incidents that had taken place the night before. She felt a mixture of feelings of weirdness as she was the only one apart from their parents to know the truth and sadness because she knew she won't ever again meet her dear ones and this she wouldn't be able to tell this terrible thing to her siblings. Tia came flying and sat on her shoulder. "Good morning old man. Alas! I won't see you ever again. Will you miss me?", whispered Sarah as she stroke Tia's feathers. Tia brushed his head against her cheek. "Maybe yes... I wish I could communicate with animals like Dirk.", murmured Sarah.
She went downstairs to find her mother in the kitchen. "Mum, I am up. You didn't wake me up...", said Sarah said rubbing her eyes. "Oh good morning dear! I saw you were sleeping soundly, so soundly that you did not hear your alarm go off.... So I thought it would be good to let you sleep for a little while longer..... After all you needed rest..... after what happened yesterday night....", said Mrs. Truscott lowering her voice.
"Mum where is Dad?", asked Sarah as Mrs. Truscott served her breakfast. "Oh he has gone to Inglehampton in search of some job and a house.", whispered Mrs. Truscott. "Where is Inglehampton?", asked Sarah. "It's in the countryside. Northern England. It's a small place with kind-hearted people I have heard. The place is full of greenery, not like the city.", said Mrs. Truscott. "That sounds good but Mum can't we stay in the city by just shifting our house to some other smaller place?", asked Sarah dropping her voice.
"I afraid that cannot be done because everything's so much more costlier in the city. Food, house rent, schooling, et cetera. We cannot afford it....", whispered Mrs. Truscott sadly. "I see", said Sarah nodding grimly. "I am feeling so sorry for Dirk and Phyllis. They don't even know it's their last time they are gonna meet their friends, everything in this city. I am feeling sad.", said Sarah gloomily. "We can just hope for the best, child. Now you don't bother yourself with these. It will make you more miserable.", said Mrs. Truscott. "Yeah I will try not to...", said Sarah.
As she finished her breakfast, and went towards the garden in search of her siblings, she tried to forget everything about their father's losing job. The more she tried to forget, the more it would bother her. At last she found Dirk and Phyllis. Dirk was busy bird watching with his binoculars and was trying to show a pigeon that was sitting on the roof to Phyllis. But Phyllis was more interested in drawing a unicorn. She looked around, as if trying to copy every single moment passing in her mind. "This is the last time I will be seeing this place.... These will all become memories...." thought Sarah sadly as she sadly watched her siblings. But then she tried to forget the thought.
"Hi! What are you guys doing?", asked Sarah. "Oh you are up? I thought you would be sleeping for the whole day. And my! the way you snore!", said Dirk smirking. "Oh shut up I don't snore. As if you don't shout while sleeping. God knows what you dream about.", said Sarah crossly. "I did that when I was a kid. I don't do that now. And it was not regular.", snapped Dirk. "Oh yeah seriously?", said Sarah rolling her eyes. And they went on bickering with each other till Phyllis interrupted - "You know what I am feeling bored. Now you both are acting as if I am the eldest." That made them stop.
"Hey I can see some ripe mangoes on that tree. Care for one?", asked Sarah pulling out her sling. "Can you aim there?", asked Phyllis. "I will try.", said Sarah. Then going a little more closer to the tree, she took aim for a juicy looking mango. She picked up a pebble, aimed, and then shot. It was missed by a few inches. "Never mind..... I will try again.", said Sarah taking another aim after picking a pebble. She again shot, and this time it hit its target. "Yaaayyyy!!! Thanks for the mango. Can you give more?", asked Phyllis. "Yes.", said Sarah. Some of them missed and some of them hit.
