. "Why did you tell her all those things Dirk?", said Phyllis shaking him. "Don't blame me. It was she who started it all. She always orders around.", said Dirk turning away. "What did she say?", asked Phyllis. Dirk narrated everything. "She did not order you Dirk. She was worried about you-", said Phyllis. "Let it be. We can't waste time. Let's go.", said Dirk.

Meanwhile, Sarah was running at her top speed, tears rolling down her cheeks. She was trying her best not to cry over a silly reason but Dirk calling her coward had hurt her. "Can't I even be worried for my brother? He has a great ego. I should stop caring about him. He can take care of himself. He has no gratitude.", thought Sarah. She did not stop running till she reached the woods. Tia, who had been flying beside as she was running, perched on her shoulder. She wiped her wet eyes with her palm. "I am not willing to go home, Tia. And especially I don't want to meet Dirk back there.", said Sarah. Tia squawked low and bent his head forward for affection. As Sarah scratched his head, she heard a very faint voice as if saying "Come to me.". "Do you hear that Tia? Who do you reckon it is?", whispered Sarah.
She tried to locate the voice. She started walking in the direction from which the voice was coming. She went deeper and deeper. Somebody else would not have dared to go further into the woods where nobody would be able to get aid for help if in trouble. But Sarah kept on muttering "I am not a coward. I am not a coward.". As she walked towards the voice, it became more distinct. It was a hoarse voice. At last she found the owner of the voice. She did not dare go near him. So she hid behind a tree and observed closely. It was a crippled, old man. And from what she could see from the distance, he did not have an amiable face. Not at all.

Meanwhile Dirk, Phyllis, David and Simon headed towards Laveras Dunmoore's cottage. Phyllis was in a rather rankle mood. After much walking in silence, they came up to a large cottage. It seemed out of care. All over the place (including the gates), weeds and mosses were growing. Simon and David started acting as if they had lost something and wandering here and there trying to find it. "What happened to you two? Can we go inside?", said Dirk and then seeing their rather startled faces he added, "I mean not inside the house, inside the gates.". "We won't risk it. If you want so badly to go, you can go.", said Simon. "As you wish.", said Dirk shrugging.

Meanwhile back in the woods, Sarah was trying to watch what exactly was happening. There was this old man she could see. He was all in rags and seemed not to have bathed for many days. He was singing. She could not make out in which language but it had an unearthly melody. She stood there, frozen in her place watching the man swaying and waving his arms. "Is he trying to summon ghosts? You know planchette?", whispered Sarah screwing her eyes. Tia squawked in fear.
He suddenly stopped. He stood staring at the sky. Then he sighed deeply. Sarah was feeling very pitiful for the man. He did not even have proper clothes. As he turned around to leave, a wolf appeared growling at him. Soon there were two three more wolves growling at him. "Calm down, calm down.... please.... are you angry? I did not mean to disturb you. Okay, okay, look here, I have got some meat for you... there you go.", said the old man throwing pieces of raw meat from his dirty bag. The other wolves started gobbling it but the wolf which had appeared first (It seemed that he was their leader), kept walking towards the man.
"The wolf seems to be more interested in his meat!", said Sarah. "Leave me alone. Leave me alone! I was not meaning to call you! Go away! Shoo!", said the man waving his arms. The wolf seemed obnoxious. His tongue was already out. The old man picked up a stick and started to try to shoo them away with that. Sarah was standing there transfixed to the ground, watching all the unusual things happening.
~~O~~
"We believe there lives a ghost.", said David. "Seriously? That's interesting, isn't it Phyll? I always wanted to see ghosts.", said Dirk. "Well, that sounds scary. I don't think I wanna see ghosts. The condition of the house scares me.", said Phyllis. "Okay, I thought you were a fantasy fanatic.", said Dirk. "I am. But not ghosts. Not horror.", said Phyllis. "Well now I think we have not much to be done. Phyll, we should head back home.", said Dirk. Phyllis nodded. "You are going home?", asked Simon. "Yes.". "We had a great time together. It was really nice to spend our time with you. Do keep popping up like this often.", said Simon. "Oh yes of course.", said Dirk.
