"Sir, Mr. Simpson is here to meet you", said Marx as he entered Jeremy's office. Jeremy was in no mood to meet anyone. He had been in his office for two days now. He havn't bathed, havn't eaten anything properly. He just sat there, searching for a way out, drowning himself in alcohol, as if that would help.
"Sir??"
"Ask him to go away. I told you that I don't want to see anyone." Jeremy barked back on his butler. Although he instantly felt sorry for the way he just talked to Marx, but he was in no mood to apologize and he knew Marx would understand him like he has always.
"Sir he says it's urgent. He said he has been calling you for the past two days but you have not replied to any of his calls." Marx said with a straight expression.
"Ahh.. Go get him." Jeremy said in an irritated voice.
Jeremy could not understand what was it that his manager needed so badly. He got up from his chair and went to the huge window just behind his desk. Still holding his bottle of wine he looked at the vast gardens that laid in front of him.
A decade back when his father had handed over everything to him, this whole land had become his. Till wherever his eyes could see, everything was his but not anymore. There were patches of land now that he had sold in order to save his business empire.
His father had built this empire, this name, this position, this status and he had trusted him with everything that his son would keep all of this safe. But he couldn't and he felt guilty about it.
There was a knock at the door that brought Jeremy back to reality.
"Get in."
"Where the hell have.......", John started to say as he entered the room but stopped midway when he saw Jeremy.
Jeremy stood there in the same suit he had seen him in three days back. He looked like he havn't bathed and shaved for many days. His jaw tense, eyes cold and dark, hair messed up. He was a good looking guy and even in this situation he looked charming. When John looked around the room, he noticed that files, pages, books were scattered everywhere.
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
"What do you want Simpson?" Jeremy barked back.
"I am your closest friend, the only family you have it this world and you are going to act like this with me?"
"Listen my so-called friend, I've already got so much on my plate. The only thing left is me being sold out on a street now. So you better not bring this family drama shit right now."
"You idiot, I've got a solution to all your problems." Till now Jeremy was giving his least attention, but this line seriously got him.
"Do not even try to joke around with me in such a situation." Jeremy hissed to John in a threatening tone.
"I am serious buddy. At least just listen me out."
"Go on."
**********
"Are you practically out of your mind?" shouted Jeremy in a shocking tone. They were now seated on the couch in Jeremy's office.
"Listen me out then react." John had started calming down Jeremy the moment he started explaining himself but now he knew that it was of no use.
"You've still got more to say? Wasn't this enough?"
"Jer...."
"Look Simpson, I know you want my best, but you can't just stall in here and start talking rubbish. You've got to having sense in what you are saying, but you...."
"Enough!" John finally said, his patience got rotten. " I have'nt just barged in here with some foolish idea but my friend I am here to tell you the only way out. You are pressed under sky high debts. Your business empire has rotten. If I'll start talking about your public image, you'll start crawling on your knees. So please, until and unless you've got a better idea than this, don't even try judging my suggestions."
"And what are you suggesting, me marrying that bitch so that her big daddy can give me money to save my ass?"
"She's THE Lana Acolla. One of biggest socialists of all time, the daughter of Brandaon enterprises, her bloody dad does not have a heir and he is offering you every help. The day that ass is going to die, everything is going to be yours. All you need is to marry Lana and all would be solved."
"This is bloody insane. I can't do this."Jeremy said in a broken voice holding on to the bottle of wine in his hand as if it was the only thing that would provide him support.
"You have to Jer. It's just a stupid marriage."
Jeremy turned away from John. "I'll think about it but I'm still not sure about this."
John stood up, straightened his suit and started walking towards the door but just before opening it he turned and said, "Jer this is your only and the last chance. Don't be stupid in making a wrong decision." And with that he left Jeremy to his own thoughts.
Jeremy just sat there and thought about the plan John was offering. His last words still rang in his ears. This is your only and the last chance.
His phone buzzed and showed that he had a message. It was an unknown number.
"Hello naughty boy. I believe this running and chasing game is finally over. Oh I can't tell you how much I have missed you. But you are finally MINE..XOXO;)"
He instantly understood whose number was it.
"That bitch." Jeremy hissed under his breadth.
