6.) Do not under any circumstances forget to eat breakfast. (Learned that the hard way)
7.) Don't digest any form of dairy 12 hours prior to any marching band event. (Your stomach will hate you)
8.) Listen to your section leader. (They know their stuff)
9.) Take your music and your music, shrink it, "laminate" it with clear tape and put it on a lanyard. Do the same with your coordinate sheet. (Comes in handy share that with your director, less hasten than a dot book.)
10.) Water proof sunscreen
11.) One more time is a lie
12.) Drink as much water as you can in those five second breaks
13.) Dont forget water you will die
14.) Don't share water during the sick season you will get sick (By then you should know better)
15.) Listen to upperclassmen. (Except when they are being dum dums.) (Jk seriously listen to them)
16.) Run to set
17.) Don't talk it costs time
18.) Have fun and sunscreen
19.) Don't leave any low brass unattended
20.) If the Tuba section adopts a rock as their mascot. Don't mess with it.
21.) gloves in the winter. Sorry woodwinds with hole instruments.
22.) Hats
23.) water
24.) Sunglasses
25.) Deodorant
26.) Wash your instrument
27.) No dairy for lunch. Especially when it's hot.
28.) Show those band moms some love.
29.) Become friends with your section.
30.) Become family with the band.
And most importantly HAVE FUN!!!
To any upperclassmen reading this you might have learned something. But let's be honest we are all gonna get a sunburn at least once this season. And forget water once this season. We aren't perfect human beings. We can set the best example for the underclassmen. Stay positive even in negative situations. Believe me if you look like you're having fun they will start to have fun, and if they have fun you will have fun. See the circle of fifths. Wait I mean the circle of fun. But you have to start that circle. And even when the freshmen get annoying stay positive. We got this. I wish everyone an amazing marching band season!
