I got in my first honor band this year, all city, and last night was the sectional night. It was honestly so amazing to play with other amazing students from schools all around the city. It was probably one of the coolest experiences so far, and I've only done it for about an hour and a half with only the symphonic trumpet section. It was so amazing, and I learned so much about trumpet playing and music. I met some amazing people, and although I'm at the end of the section I didn't feel like I was any less than first chair. First all the way to last chair are all amazing people and players. It was just so amazing. If you ever get the chance to be in an honor band, I highly recommend you do it.
If you don't think you will make one, well neither did I, so at least try. You never know, and it will be so amazing. There were also probably many who didn't get in that should honestly be there instead of me, because you can only have so many in the band. So if you auditioned and didn't make it, don't feel bad, try again next year, you never know. It was amazing to see how close in skill first and last chair were to eachother.
