"She's in her room." Luke said then he plopped down the couch.
"Thanks." I said nd marched to Lily's room. I quietly walked up the stairs and knocked on Lily's room. I opened it and found her sleeping. Really? She's still sleeping? So I moved the small chair beside her bed and watched her sleep for a while. It was nice glaring at such a beautiful lady's face for a moment, until I thought that I should wake her up. "Lily, wake up." I said, stroking her cheek with my finger. "Lily." I repeated. She then moved and opened her eyes. Her lips formed a smile and her eyes bulged, it made me smile. She hugged me tightly and said, "I missed you so much, Mia!"
"I missed you too." I said. "By the way, why are you still sleeping at this time?"
"I don't know, I like sleeping." She replied, and it made me chuckle, well yeah she's right who doesn't like sleeping?
We talked for a while about things, until Luke interrupted.
"Lily, phone." He said and so Lily went down to pick up the phone.
"And we, need to talk." He said then opened the door widely. "Outside, now." He added and so I did walked outside and walked down the hall, and he led me to the kitchen, somewhere very far away from Lily.
"What again?" I started.
"Do you exactly know what you just did?"
"No" I said then folded my arms on my chest.
"You left her awake last night until 3AM, and now you just appear at this time as if nothing happened?"
"So it is my fault that she was awake last night?"
"She was stoked to see you."
"And?"
"She couldn't sleep, and kids have to sleep. So I think it is your fault that you thought her how to be an insomniac." He said and pointed his finger at me.
"Hey don't you point your finger at me and stop acting like a kid. Grow up, Luke! This situation is not that huge, but why do you have to make it bigger? It doesn't make sense Luke! Stop being so hot headed! At least I reached your house, and I'm better late than never." I said.
"You know what? Fine. I'll let you do anything you want. Just don't come to me and complain when Lily cries because of you."
"She won't, she's not as hot headed as you." I said then left Luke there. I went back to Lily, waiting for her to finish on the phone, then someone called me as well. It was Juliette.
"Juliette." I answered.
"Hey Mia, you have to go here A.S.A.P." She said
"Why?"
"Just do until you see the problem. It's an emergency, okay? Be here please."
"Okay, I'll be there in an hour." I placed the phone back in my pocket and saw Luke staring at me from the hall to the kitchen.
"Looks like someone has to go now." He said walking towards me.
"Yeah, I have to." I said and looked at Lily who was still on the phone. I slung my bag on my shoulder and talked to Lily. "Hey, Lily. I have to go."
"Why?"
"My friend needs me, she said it's an emergency. I'll be back here on the weekend anyway."
"Okay, see you!"
"See you." I said then gave her a hug. "Let's go." I told Luke then we headed outside to his car.
Halfway through my house we were not talking, until Luke broke the silence.
"I'm sorry about earlier." He started.
"I'm sorry too. I said things that may have offended you."
"It's my fault." He said, and after that line he pulled up in front of my house. "I'm so sorry."
"Hey, it's okay. Don't take it too seriously." I said and looked at his eyes deeply.
"Thanks. I promise to change myself."
"And promises should be kept." I said and was about to unlock the door but he stopped me. "Mia, wait."
"Yeah?"
"Promise me that you'll never leave Lily. Please?" He said, helplessly like he really needs me to do it.
"Yeah, sure. I won't. I promise."
"Thank you."
And after that, we just stopped there, stuck where we were. As he was coming near me, nearer and nearer until we were inches apart. His hand cupped my cheek and 2 inches left our lips were about to touch.
But that 2 inch changed into 1 foot. Juliette interrupted by knocking on the window.
"See you later." I said.
"Yeah." He said and turned back to the stirring wheel.
I waved goodbye to him and walked with Juliette inside until Luke was completely gone.
"Hey who was that guy? He's cute!" Juliette said then we laughed on the way inside my house.
