*beep, beep, beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep*

*Grayson's POV*

The beep was continuous. I jerked my head up and looked at the machine. The line that was mimicking her heart beat by a pattern was now flat. My breathing hitched. I stood up as fast as I could and ran out the door. I ran in the hallway trying to find a nurse. After a couple seconds of searching I found someone.

"MISS, I NEED YOUR HELP. ROOM 17, HER HEART STOPPED!" I yelled to her. She looked at me with a shocked face and called other nurses and doctors with her. They began running down the hallway. They arrived at Skylars room and stepped in quickly until they were by her side. I tried to come in the room also but a nurse stopped me.

"I'm sorry son, but you can't come in here." Before I could reply she slammed the door in my face. I stepped back, where do I go now. I'm supposed to be there for her. I stepped back outside in the waiting room with tears in my eyes.

How could this happen?
She doesn't deserve this..

*Ethan's POV*

I came out of the kitchen after eating a snack and watching tv from a distance. I sat on the couch And changed the channel. I was going to yell for Grayson, but I forgot he wasn't there. I grabbed my phone from my pocket and called him again.

*ring, ring, ring*

"Hello?" A voice said on the other end of the phone.

"Hey Grayson, where are you?"
It was silence for a second.

"I'm just hanging out at....Starbucks."

"Oh, I want to see you, I'm coming down there."

"No Ethan, don't. It's okay. I'm actually heading back there in a minute."

"But I want to see you now."
Something seemed off. But I'm not sure what.

"Well I'll be there here soon. Bye."

"Bye?" With that he hung up. I'm gonna eventually find out what he was up to0.

My brother wouldn't lie to me...would he?

I ignored the thought, he would never not tell me the truth. He's my brother...

*Grayson's POV*

I slipped my phone back into my pocket and wiped the sweat off of my forehead. That was to close. I'm just hoping he doesn't drive himself down there, to figure out I lied to him. But I have more important things to worry about.

I had sat back down so I stood up and gained my balance. I started pacing back and forth. No one else was in the waiting room at the moment so it was dead silence. It was just me and the lady at the desk.

"Sir, are you okay. Here take some water." She spoke up handing me a cup of water.

I looked up from the ground and looked in her direction. I gently grabbed the cup from her hand and nodded while saying a quiet 'Thankyou.' I took a couple sips from the small plastic container and sat back down. I was light headed and felt like I was gonna passed out. I began taking deep breaths trying to calm my self down which, after many minutes, finally helped me maintain a slow breathing pattern. I stared back at the floor, not wanting to make eye contact with anyone or speak to anyone. I was in my own head...my thoughts were roaming.

This can't be happening.
She's someone I hurt, but..
She's someone I love
She's someone I....need

I felt a drop of water hit my hand. I looked down and felt my cheek. I didn't even realize I was crying. I wiped my tears away not wanting anybody to see them. I was still facing the floor when I heard a chair creek beside me. I raised my head up and turned to the right. I saw a woman sitting beside me who looked like she was in her 50s or so.
