Chapter 15 - A confession

Yes I am with Ethan today. Because he promised me to teach me and guide me how to pronounce the words.

"Amanda, say ma-" he said.

"ma-"

"gandang-" he said

"gantang-" I said.

"Nooo. Its gandang as in d dog. gan-danggg not gan tang." he said

"oh. Gan-dang." I said.

"Uma-ga" he said.

"o-mega" I said.

"U as in umbrella. Um-maa-gaaaa, umaga." he said.

"um-aga?" I asked.

"yes. repeat after me, magandang umaga" he said.

"ma-gandang-uma-ga" I said.

"Yes. Magandang Umaga means Good morning." he said.

"Oh good morning is mag-ganda uma-aga here." I said.

"Yea. But try to tell it more fluent like. Magandang Umaga. Ma-gandang umaga"

"Like this? Magan-daang Umaga?" I said

"Better." he said while looking at the book

"Hahahaha" I laughed.

Next one is Good Evening

"Amanda say, magandang" he said.

"Magan-dang" I said.

"Gabi." he said

"Gab-bi" I said.

"Better removing one b and try to pronounce it using b. Say gabi."

"gabi" I repeated.

"Magan-dang-ga-bi. Magandang gabi." he said.

"Magandang gabi" I said.

"That's it. Next one is How are you?"

"Kamusta, say kamusta." He said.

"One syllable at a time please?" I said.

"Okay. Kam-" he said.

"come" I said

"No, say kam using letter k-a-m. Kam" he said.

"Kam" i said

"musta" he said.

"musta" I said.

"repeat after me. Ka-musta, kamusta." he said.

"Kamusta." I said.

"and say it like asking. Kamusta?" he said.

"Kamusta?" I said.

"Very good, next one is thank you"

"Repeat after me, Ma-" he said.

"ma-" I said.

"-raming" he said.

"raming" I said.

"Sala-" He said.

"sala" I said

"mat-" he said.

"mat" I said.

"Then repeat after me. Ma-raming Sa-lamat. Maraming salamat. "

"Mara-ming sala-mat?" I asked.

"Yes. Maraming salamat. He said.

"Ahm, ethan!" I said.

"Yes?" and he look at me

"Mara-ming sa-lamat" and I flashed a smile.

He smiled and said "You're welcome."

"What's next?" I asked

"Coffee?" he said.

"Sure." I said and smiled.

We walked until we reach the coffee shop. We take it out and walked around.

While walking he said.

"Translate this" he said.

"Good Morning"

"Magandang Umaga."

"What about Good Evening"

"Magandang Gabi"

"How are you?"

"kamusta"

"Thank you."

"Maraming salamat"

"Wow. Fast learner!"

"Ofcourse!" I said proudly

"By the way I have something to do tomorrow and I can't go with you." he said.

I did not replied and he started explaining.

"I am going to submit your papers to Ms. Malinah. My father's secretary. He will be the one to review your papers. By the way I brought you this."

and showed me 13 books tagalog dictionary with meanings.

"These are books. Because I am not with you tomorrow. Maybe these can help."

"Thank you. You don't need to do this. But I am so grateful for being your friend." I said and get the books.

"But you know Amanda, you're not just a friend to me. Since the day I met you. Its like you're something special to me."

"What do you mean?" I said.

"I like you Amanda. And being closer to you makes me like you more and someday I'll just realized that I love you."

"You're just saying that because you don't know me yet. Don't make me assume for nothing Ethan. It's not funny." I said

"I wasn't kidding. I really like you. C'mon Amanda." He said.

"Okay. But ethan my 'okay' doesn't mean I like you too. It takes time to know a person."

"I am willing to wait. Thank you Amanda" and he kissed my forehead and gave me a tight hug.
