Do you ever feel like something is getting better, it's finally getting better after so much dissapointment and sadness, but then that one guy shows up and you're like "Spoke too soon".. because that's what my life is right now.

With Ross gone, my life has been hell. To top it all off, he was posting everywhere about how happy he was and crap. It all seemed to be true, and it broke me to know that he was happier there than he was when he was here. I'm the new cancer, I swear.

I decided to shoot Ross a text, because if I'm being honest, I wanted him back here. No, scratch that. I needed him back here. I was going to go crazy if I had to go any longer without him.

I messaged him on Skype, with a simple "Hey you busy?" in which he replied with an easy "no".

"Do you mind if I call you? Just wanna catch up," I said, adding a smiley face to ease the tone. I didn't want him to think I was just wanting to talk about the bad stuff.

"No not at all, that'd be nice," Ross replied.

I couldn't help but to smile a little, because of the opportunity to talk to Ross again. I called him and waited for him to answer.

"Hey, Max," He said as soon as he picked up the phone.

"Hey, Ross! What're you doing?" I decided to keep the conversation casual.

We talked for hours, and it was relieving to have everything go so smoothly. I felt like maybe Ross and I could go back to the way we were. That warmed my heart more than anything.

After my call with Ross, Adam, Tim, Barney and I all decided to go out to a bar for the night. I dressed in my usual black t shirt and a pair of jeans. I swear, I owned a million black shirts, that's the only colour I ever wore. I spritzed on some cologne before heading out to the bar.

We all sat at the stools, sipping on beers and chatting about video games and dick jokes. The usual, for us. As we sat, Red nudged my arm and nodded towards a girl across the room who seemed to be staring at me.

"She hasn't stopped looking at you since we got here," He said with a chuckle.

I didn't know how to react. I cleared my throat and pulled my eyes away from her.

"Should I go say something?" I questioned. Like I said, I was horrible at this sort of thing.

"Go for it," Red said, the rest of the guys murmuring in agreement.

I finished off my beer and straightened out my shirt before heading over to the girl.

She was pretty, definitely. But she didn't seem like the type you'd normally find in a bar. I wasn't sure how much in common I'd have with her. But honestly, I didn't care at this point. I was distracted and that's all I was going after.

Her friends giggled as I made my way over and stepped aside, leaving her alone with me.

"Hey," She said, with a little blush to her cheeks.

I could end up being her soulmate and the first thing she says to me is hey? Okay then, that's where this is going.

"Uh.. Hey. I'm Max," I started.

I couldn't offer this little lady a drink, for she already had one in her hand, and she smelled as if she had plenty already.

"I'm Shelby," She said.

Her voice, it sounded so familiar. I knew I had heard it before but I couldn't quite place where I had heard it from. It was going to bug me until I figured it out.

"Nice to meet you," She continued with that adorable voice.

"Listen, the only reason I'm over here is because you're attractive and my friends wouldn't shut up about you," I said with a slight chuckle.

"Well at least you're honest," She said, thankfully not seeming offended. "How about I give you my number to get your friends off your back, and maybe you can text me sometime, if you feel like it," She teased.

I couldn't help but laugh. I actually was liking this girl. Something in me just flicked on and I felt like I could actually be happy again.

"Yeah, that doesn't sound too bad," I said, taking the slip of paper she handed me.

I returned to the bar, laughing at the cheering I received from the guys.

"Red made me do it," I said, shoving on his shoulder.

"Yeah, well I bet you're glad I did," He chuckled.

What a night it was. We made it home around one in the morning, so I decided to wait until tomorrow to message Shelby.

Shelby.. where have I heard that name before? And her voice, man it was so similar. It really was going to bug me until I remembered. Maybe she just reminded me a celebrity or something.

But there was definitely something special about this girl. The best part was how easily I forgot about Ross. I only remembered about him because I saw that he had tried to call me four times while we were out. Great.

I opened my text messages to a long-ass paragraph from him, basically telling me he was coming back, as well as one from Tim sending me screenshots of the same conversation.

You've got to be kidding me. Seriously! Just when everything was going great. It always happens like that, doesn't it? Just when you think your over someone, they manage to creep their way into your life again and fuck up your emotions.

I try to be mad about this, but honestly I was thrilled that Ross was crawling back to me.

**A/N: OKAY so I kinda ship Max and Shelby so I had to incorporate it in here somehow. Get ready for a love triangle. Be sure to stay alert, I'm publishing a RedVacktor Fanfiction tomorrow!**
