Chapter 7: The Old Clay and the New Connor (Allison's POV)

I woke up completely oblivious of what was happening. I looked around me. Without lifting my head up, I got a pretty good view of the ground moving, which told me that someone was carrying me and running. I was apparently thrown carelessly on someone's back. My stomach was on a firm shoulder, and my chest and arms were bouncing on someone's back as we moved. I pushed myself up to see who was carrying me. It was Connor. The details were fuzzy, but I remember him biting me on my neck.

"Dang it, you're awake," he said looking at me. "That means you can run for yourself."

"And why is that a bad thing?"

"It's not," I heard another person say. My brother was running beside us, with an unconscious Bri on his shoulder. "He just likes when your boobs bounce against his back."

"EXCUSE ME?" I screamed over the roaring laughter from the two boys. "What the HELL has gotten into you?! I'm not going anywhere with you people." I flailed and kicked and lit on fire. I didn't like the idea of hitting my boyfriend, but in this case, my boyfriend wasn't being very boyfriend-y. "Sorry, toots. That stuff's not gonna work on me."

"Who are you calling toots?" I snapped back as he squeezed me tighter.

"Geez, this one's annoying. Why don't you take her, Clay? She's your type after all," Connor smirked.

"I AM YOUR GIRLFRIEND YOU IDIOT! NOW WILL SOMEONE TELL ME RIGHT NOW WHAT THE FUCK WE ARE DOING AND WHERE THE HELL WE ARE GOING?" I screamed. "Whoa, chill out, babe."

I glared at my brother. He just smiled at me. His eyes were blood red. He had grown fangs and they were stained with blood. "So are you guys like vampires now?" I asked, after cooling down a little. "You could say that. But if you think we're the idiots who wear capes and frilly collars and have our hair slicked back, then I'll bite your lungs out." The boys stopped running, for some reason. "Where's Torrance? He was supposed to meet us here with the other one."

"I'm down here you pair of dicks," someone said in a strong Jamaican accent. "Wait. Down here? Where's down heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere???!!!!" I screamed. We were falling down a pit. "What happened? CLAY, SO HELP ME I WILL BEAT THE- why are we falling?" I heard Bri ask. "Well the only two boys I actually care about have turned into perverted vampires, and we are falling into a pit. I'm not sure why though."

"Vampires? Like Edward Cullen?"

"Sure, except for two things. One: we don't sparkle," Connor replied casually as we fell.

"Yeah, I never really understood that."

"Two: We only drink blood from one animal. I'll give you a hint. It starts with h, and ends with man." Bri and I looked at each other. "Wait a minute, you bit me. Why am I not a vampire?"

"Because we gave you a half bite. Half bites leave you unconscious." We finally landed on the ground. Connor threw me carelessly off of his back and onto the ground. "OW! You know just because you're vampires does NOT mean you can't be chivalrous." When I had dusted myself off, I took a good look around us. It was awful. There was an army of vampires working in a large underground factory. People hustled back and forth carrying supplies for houses and everything. It was like Habitat for Humanity for vampires. Everyone was moving so fast, but there were some people who were taking it slow. In the distance, I could see dirt hills covered in tiny little houses, and the vampires were still building more. Everyone glared at us as we walked by. Connor pushed me forward. "Start walking," he commanded. "No," I protested. He groaned loudly, picked me up by the stomach and threw me back onto his back like a rag doll. I huffed and folded my arms grumpily, as he walked me through the crowd. Everyone stared at the extremely buff teenage boy carrying a grumpy girl on his back. We entered one of the mini straw huts closest to us. It was pitch black and Connor set me down on top of a flat surface. My feet dangled above the ground, which showed that I was probably sitting on a table. I felt the table shake a little as Bri sat down behind me. If I leaned all the way back, I could I heard the sound of iron scraping stone, and I felt something cold and metallic wrap around my wrists like bracelets. They were metal rings that cuffed me to the table. I couldn't get away. "Don't do anything stupid, and don't go anywhere. Not that you have a choice," my brother taunted. "I'll be back for you," my brother whispered in my ear. I felt a pair of lips on my head. I felt his fangs scrape lightly against my scalp. A shiver went down my spine. It wasn't Connor's kiss. I heard Connor and Clay walk to the other side of the room. A light entered the room as they walked through a door, but only for a few seconds. The room was completely empty, except for us and the table. I saw Ellie cuffed to the table as well. The walls were made of straw and sticks. Flammable substances. When the door closed, I took the chance and heated up my arms, and the metal around my wrists started melting. Soon I was able to break free. I got off of the table and lit my hand as a torch. Now I could see the whole room. I looked around the room for a lever or key that would unlock Bri's handcuffs. I didn't want to take the risk and accidentally burn her. There was nothing. "Sorry, Bri. You're going to have to sit tight." I tiptoed to the door to listen for anything. "You did WHAT?" I heard a deep voice say. It was obvious they were using a voice modulator. "My apologies, sir. I didn't know," I heard Connor say. "Do you know how mad the Skull Man will be that you turned a petal into one of us?"

"Relax, my king. It was just one of the fire ones. The plan just needs one of them. We need the most powerful one. If the plan doesn't work we can still hand them over to the Skull man."

"I guess you are right. Well done. But how do we know which one is the strongest?"

"The fire one," I heard Clay say. "She's different from the others. She will do perfectly. What should we do to the others?"

"Give them the bite. You can do what you like with the other two." I could feel the dirty ideas churning in Clay's head, even from outside the door. I could hear them coming back. I sprinted back to the table and pretended that I was still cuffed to the table. The door opened, and Clay and Connor entered the room. It turns out that there was a light switch on the other side of the door that turned on the lights of the room. "Did you miss me? Of course you did," Clay asked with a cheeky grin on his face. Clay stopped in front of me. My shoulders tensed. "Clever girl," he said, eyeing my free wrists. "It doesn't matter now, because you're not staying here. He moved in closer, and I stayed absolutely still. He smelled the side of my neck. "Too bad. You would've tasted amazing." His scarlet eyes landed below my neck. I didn't hesitate to give him a good blow to the face. "Hey. Eyes up here. What have you done with my brother?" I asked him. "What are you talking about? I'm right here!" he said back. For a split second, I caught a glimpse of the real Clay. He shut his eyes tightly, like there was something in it. And right before he blinked, his eyes were caramel brown. "Clay! I know you're in there! You have to fight it! This isn't you!" I screamed at him. "Get this lunatic out of here. Bring her to the chamber. Torrance is waiting," Clay ordered. Connor walked over and picked me up, cradling me in his arms. I saw Clay walk over to Bri and Ellie. "Now. We can do this the hard way, slowly and painfully, maybe on a bed if I'm feeling extra special. Or we can do this quick and easy. Your choice," he said casually. "Hey. Save one for me. I'm feeling lucky," Connor said. I jumped off and hit him on his leg. He came crashing down. "You PERVE!" I knocked out Connor and melted Bri and Ellie's handcuffs. "We're leaving. With or without them," I cried, as I ran out of the room, holding back tears. The only two boys I cared about had turned into perverted monsters.
