Lachlan's Perspective
Music blared from the speakers. The lights changing to a soft red.
"Our first act of the night, Count Vikram!"Vikk stood out on stage, wearing a black cape so dark it seemed to shimmer blue. He was also wearing a suit, his red button up, well, buttoned up.
"Hello everyone. My name is Count Vikram, and I have a very, very special act for tonight. But first, may I have a volunteer..."
My arm shot straight up, although not on my own accord. I saw Vikk wink at me, waving a finger in my direction.
"You sir. Please, come up to the stage. What is your name?""Lachlan... Lachlan Power."
"Hello Lachlan. For this act, I am going to need you to stand completely still. No movements."
I felt my chest tighten up, my breathing cut short. It felt like I was being restricted, my lungs tightly bound by an invisible force. I met Mitch and Rob's gaze, their eyes full of panic."Now, ladies and gentlemen. Please stay calm, I need my utmost concentration for this act."
I met Vikk's eyes, turning from a bright red to black. His hands found my cheeks as he stared deep into my eyes. My heart started to pound in my chest, a soft throb that I prayed he couldn't feel. The vampire took a deep breath, pressing his fingertip firstly to his lips before brushing it along mine.
My feet began to rise from off of the floor. The binding around my torso beginning to lessen.
I was floating...Vikk took a few steps back, smirking at me in the air. He held out his hands, keeping me airborne. He turned to the audience, in awe at the act taking place before them, raising my lithe body higher.
Everyone gasped as I was spun around in a mid air backflip.
As the act continued I noted the small changes in his facade. Vikk still kept his face on me, yet it was pale and coated in sweat. I was risen higher and higher, his arm shaking as he tried to continue. From high up I could see Jay on the other side of the curtain, worry painting his face.I was near the ceiling now, able to brush my fingers along the plaster. As I did, applause broke out below.
Vikk's shaking was easier to see now, even from this height. His concentration breaking with the clapping .I dropped a few feet, my heart pounding in my chest as I fell closer to the ground. The audience gasped, Mitch standing to save me if needed. But he kept up the act, somehow, taking deep breaths as he lowered my body to the ground.
He was almost panting as he bowed. The audience roared, applauding the two of us.
Jay came back out on stage."Can we get a round of applause for our volunteer, Lachlan."
I was ushered back into my seat by Brandon. Looking back up to the stage, I saw Jay drape an arm over Vikk's shoulders, leading him behind the curtain.
Rob looked at me with awe. I smiled. That vampire had taken my breath away, and he knew it.
"The next act, may I welcome, The Flame."
Another man exited from behind the curtain, he was of an average height, strong build with soft brown hair and caring brown eyes. I saw Rob next to me, eyes wide.
He was wearing nothing but a cream colored tunic, a thick metal belt wrapped around his waist. He looked like a gladiator, a warrior."Hello everyone, my name is Preston, better known as The Flame."
Preston was handed a thick metal slate, holding it in front of him. He stepped off the stage, handing the metal to a guy standing on the other side of the church.
