Vikk's Perspective

'Hey Vikk. You ready to go out?'
I shook my head no, hearing the tent flap open behind me.

"Oh Please. Do not tell me you are watching him sleep. Well congrats! You just sent vampires back thirty years"

Lachlan squirmed in his sleepy state. Eyelids fluttering.
'What else am I supposed to do... I couldn't concentrate with him here.'

Jay chuckled, clapping a hand over my shoulder.
"Come on Vikky."

I followed Jay out of the tent, taking one small glance behind me before I let the fabric fall back into place.
"Okay Vikk. Spill... What's up with you and Blondie?"

Jay and I walked through the woods behind our camp, keeping watch for anything to eat. I spotted a small deer, crouching low behind a tree to avoid it running away.
"I don't want to talk about it..."

"Come on Vikk. I know you like him, it's obvious."
I took a step back, preparing myself to run towards the animal. I ignored the vamp next to me, sprinting before the deer could get away. My supernatural vampire speed creating a whirlwind around it.
The animal collapsed as I sunk my fangs into the deer's neck, the warm lifeblood flowing between my lips. Jay ran up behind me, removing the deer from under my tight grip.
The salty liquid ran from my mouth, creating small pathways along my chin before dripping onto the ground.

"Vikk, listen to me. Lachlan is a human. You are not. Look at yourself Vikk, you are a blood-sucking monster. Who's to say you don't drink Blondie dry in your sleep."

"I would never do that Jay and you know it."
I took a step away from the vampire, anger surging through my veins. The blood I had drank had changed me. I was more violent now.
I took a few deep breaths, trying to calm myself down before I lashed out.

"And what are you going to do Vikk? When Lachlan's on his deathbed and you look the same as when you two met. What are you going to do then?"

I let my anger get the best of me, lunging at Jay. His arms were pinned to the tree behind him. The tree itself shook, a few leaves falling onto us. I didn't care that he was older. I didn't care that he was stronger. I didn't care that he could probably kill me now if he wanted.

"I would never hurt him Jay!"
"You've known him for less than a day Vikk... Look how you act with me, and you've known me for dec~"

"V-Vikk?"
I turned back toward the voice that had interrupted us, Lachlan standing not three feet away, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
I felt all of my strength drain, dropping my arms.

"Lachlan. Go back to the tent."
He looked scared, no terrified. I had blood running from my face, staining my hands.

"No, Lachlan wait, please!"
The blonde Aussie ran, sprinting back towards the church. Jay clasped a hand on my shoulder, his once angry exterior gone.

"Vikk. Let him go..."
I felt tears prick in the corners of my eyes, not wanting to cry in front of Jay.

"I c-can't."
"Besides. We're leaving tomorrow. You won't see him again after today. It's best not to get too attached. You know what they say."
"What"
"If you love something, let it go..."
