I watched Sloan try to meditate without losing his balance. He was getting older and frail. His skin was shriveled up as it was pale. I worried for him, his end was near. Rahuls were only stronger humans with an extended life spans. Our numbers were few but we could kill easily, any creature you sent our way, we are known for hunting and tracking.

Sloan was 327 years old, the Witches magic was fading away slowly. It usually made us appear the same age we graduated from our Master's side. Sloan's had made him old about three months ago. You could only imagine how I felt when I went to wake up my thirty year old looking master only to find him older than a Grandpa who can't get up without help. I was in his  mountain side house. It was snowing softly outside and the white snow made the praying tree look high in color and depth. The rosy pink tree was said to bring peace to anyone near it. It sat in the middle of the meditation room with dirt three feet around it. It stood bent over with the roots curling up together as it seemed it was about to die.

A few petals fell to the ground silently, when suddenly I broke from my trance. Sloan was lying on the ground crumpled up groaning, I leaped from the balcony that stood over the room and landed silently on the floor. I made my way to my Master quickly, and knelt down next to him. He was breathing slowly, I helped him up.

"Are you okay", I asked and lifted him onto my shoulder as gently as I could. He was use to this now since this happened frequently for the last few months.

"As always, I think I just need to rest", he coughed. I walked softly to his room and layed him down. After making sure everything was fine I turned to leave.

"Azoro", he called out. I turned back to him and wondered how long will he suffer like this. He told me of the pain that racked your body when the magic ends. I told him that he should let the Keepers take his soul, so he wouldn't feel it but he has been stubborn.

"Yes, Master", I asked, I meet his grey eyes with curiosity. He licked his lips,

"Don't let the law be your life, when you have time settle down and start a life for yourself. I didn't have the chance that's why I adopted you. Don't be like me, living a life like a fool without a purpose. Don't waste your time, those moments of peace will make your entire life become something amazing", he began wheezing and I leaned his head up to trickle some tea down his throat. He swallowed and layed back down and looked seriously into my eyes.

"Promise me you'll do this", he said quietly. I opened my mouth to be sarcastic but I realized he really meant it.

"I, Azoro Grey give you my Oath, that'll settle down and build a life, after I deal with all my business", I said.

He shook his shaggy grey hair,

"That's the best I'm going to play get out of you, isn't? ", he mumbled. I nodded and smiled.

"I love you Master, and I love you as my father too", I said and left the room. I heard him snore before I even closed the door. I made sure the maid was watching him as well. I slowly walked to my room when I heard screaming. I was back down the hall immediately, short blade in hand. I saw Sloan's room door open and the maid on the floor with blood pooling around her body. My sharp eyes caught bite marks on her neck when I ran into the large room.

My Master, my friend,... My father was gasping for air while a pale figure crouched over him by the window sill. His head snapped up at the sound of my approach, blood gushed from his gaping mouth. A vampire. His teeth was bared in rage and hunger, he threw my Master's body from his grasp and leaped out the window to the mountain side. I barely got to the window before Sloan grabbed me by the ankle. I felt heartbroken as I knelt down next to him. He was holding his neck. I removed his hand and saw no blood and I sucked in a breath. No, the vampire didn't drain him of blood but he injected blood inside his body. Sloan waited patiently for me to process this before he spoke.

"His name is Asyrd Silver. He wanted to kill me since my younger days, but that isn't important right now. I am in transition and I need you to kill me. I would myself but I couldn't even hold a knife anymore", he slowly spoke. I shook my head, tears falling from my eyes. He smiled sadly, his eyes glazed over.

"I can't...it'll ruin me-", I covered my mouth as I sobbed. Tears racked my body as I held his hand. My Father was dying and I couldn't do it about it,...besides kill him.

"Azoro, this will make you stronger. Free me of the hell that awaits me, or that'll ruin the both of us. The bloodlust will be to strong. Please, kill me", I saw him close his eyes and without heasitating I snapped his neck with an anguished yell of rage. I heard it echo down the mountain and hoped it reached the immortal's ear as a sign. A sign that I was going to kill him, and it wasn't going to be quick.

His funeral was filled of people I didn't know. I watched the faces of the supernatural world look at the casket in pity and boredom. Death was another thing to them, Witches, Fairies, Ghosts, and Vampires were use to this. I couldn't look at the faces of the Vampires here, or I'll rip their very heart from their chest. I was the last one to walk up to Sloan's casket, I was the only grieving. I layed down a rose and left. I couldn't watch them cover his body with dirt. His death wouldn't just be another in our community.

Before I reached my car I felt a hand on my shoulder. I tensed and turned, a woman in her thirties gave me a small smile. She had her hair pressed down straight which complimented her chocolate skin and eyes.

"Azoro, the council would like to meet you whenever you can. We give you our condolences and hope you will find what we plan for you is suitable. My name is Jen, by the way", she said offering her hand. I shook it slowly.

"Tell the council I want to be on the case of hunting Asyrd and I want to do it alone", I said bluntly. I saw regret flash across her face,

"You'll need to attend the meeting before you ask me of something that I highly disagree with. See you at the meeting", and with that Jen turned on her heels and walked briskly to her car.

They have to put me on the case, I thought, or I might just go mad

How am I doing??
