This year we planned to have New Year Eve dinner at my place. It was the last week of December 2010. Nushay and I were out with our mothers for new year shopping.
My dress wasn't final yet.
"Hareem, Hareem, Hareem" I heard Nushay shouting.
"Is everything alright? Is she okay?" I thought.

"Booooo" someone scared me from behind and next thing I know I was on the floor with coffee all over my shirt.

"Not again, Nushay", I yelled at the top of my voice.

"We can fight later, I have to show you something" I didn't wanna get up, I was embarrassed but I knew I couldn't say 'No' to her.

"What are you waiting for Hareem?HURRY UP!" She looked really excited, she held my hand and dragged me towards the store.
"Look at this dress Hareem, I wanna buy this for both of us" she made a cute puppy face knowing I was still mad.
"But Nushay...." she didn't even let me finish my sentence and took 2 same dresses to counter. I really liked that dress but I tried to fake an angry face to show her I was still mad. "I'm buying these for us Mom" I heard her talking to our moms.
They just smiled because they knew she won't hear a word, If she has decided something, she will do it plus the dress was really pretty. She bought the dresses and we went to have an ice-cream in an ice-cream parlor near. She ordered one scoop of Oreo cream with one scoop of Ferrero Rocher with baked cone(her favorite one) And, then one scoop of caramel toffee and one scoop of mocha with the baked cone for me(my most favorite). She knew me more than anyone. Our family used to say about us "Can't you guys digest food without talking to each other?"
Nushay was my best friend. Her real name was Anushay but she wanted everyone to call her Nushay. She was different, she was my princess. She was more of a realistic kind of person. She was stubborn in a positive kind of way.
I, on the other hand, live in a fantasy world. I don't know why but whenever I was with her, I was full of life. My eyes used to shine with happiness. She changed me completely.I became a person I didn't know I was capable of becoming. I couldn't even imagine myself drinking water without texting her. In short, can't imagine my life without her.
As we finished our ice-creams, I went to spend a night at Nushay's home because my family was going out of town and we shared a mutual friend circle, So my father allowed me to stay at her.
We bought a DVD of 'Remember Me' on our way back. I opened the door of her room and jumped into her "Butterfly bed" she used to say. Music chandeliers full with her favorite purple glowing lights, wallpapers embossed with the different patterns of butterflies, curtain's rod were made from colorful beads that also followed patterns of butterflies.
"why just butterfly ,Nushay?" I asked.
"Hareem, My love, Caterpillars are signs of those lifeless people who take their life for granted and don't Thank Allah (SWT) for this beautiful life He gave us but as every child grows into a beautiful 7, 8-year-old girl or boy, Caterpillars grow into colourful butterflies that have prettiest wings and that are the signs of those enthusiastic people who live their lives with full zeal and zest by only following one golden rule i.e:- "Thank Him and He will give you more." She replied in her melodic voice.
I just had tears in my eyes, There was an appreciation look on my face which she understood. She held my hand and picked me out of bed and asked me to offer Esha prayer.
After offering prayer, we decided to make instant popcorns and had some coke with us for the movie. We switched on the DVD player.
Anushay was behaving strange, rather than spending time with me she started using her laptop. "What are u doing? Just stop whatever you are doing and spend time with me" I furiously said.
"Hareem, One minute" And that one minute lasted for about 3 hours and I was asleep...
